  • I have been really bad :o Decided the Lego placenames were a rubbish "Favour" and that I wanted something else. So now I've bought 50ml jars which im gonna fill with "Skittles" vodka and also do some homemade Tablet along with. I know you dont NEED Favours but I love this idea :)

  • I'm a July bride. 26th to be exact.
    I've sorted the following
Dress and shoes - just hope I can walk in them lol
    8 x bridesmaid dresses
    1 x page boy kilt
Best man, groom and father of groom Kilt.
Father of bride and ushers suits.
    Venue is village hall
    Wedding is at registry office.
We own vintage vw's so don't need cars
Catering sorted for both day and night.
Save the dates sorted but I do still need to make actual invites
Photographer booked, expensive but would be gutted if my photos were rubbish so this is my luxury!!!
I still need to buy wine, I'm waiting a good deal or glitch at tesco!!

While buying and researching for my own wedding I have bought a chair cover wedding venue dressing hire company, complete with 30 existing bookings. It was practically being given away so couldn't resist. If anyone needs venue dressing in west midlands, Worcestershire, Staffordshire or Shropshire let me know. Bargain prices very mse!!, I'd be happy to help anyone if I could, weddings don't need to be expensive

We've found invites and an idea for a guest book we like. Changing the reception venue though so got to arrange a bunch of viewings for places soon, and decide on whether we'll have a buffet like we originally planned or to go with a sit down meal, given we could be more limited on time
  • I haven't read the whole thread but i will when i have time :-)

Congrats to you all-you are all really organised.

I'm getting married 29th Nov 2014 (it maybe the weekend before or after) it's hard to book the date properly as we are having out wedding meal and reception at our local football ground so we need to wait until june 2014 til the fixtures come out! eeekkk! all a bit last minute!

I have my dress already, i did originally go for one from a bridal store paid a massive deposit and the idea of spending £800 for a dress grieved me.

I got my deposit back and searched for something else. And Monsoon bridal answered my prayers! one dress i loved in the sale, one in my size...it cost £95, this is perfect and it fits like a dream, more classy than the other dress and just perfect. so i'm relieved to say the least.

I am going shopping in the sales over Christmas with my BMs for their dresses, i'm not getting 'proper' BM dresses as i want to get them something they can wear again.

I have subscribed and will be back-hoping to get lots of tips :-)
Don't tell me this nothing...this is my nothing
  • Having a ring crisis - went ring shopping with OH for the first time (having been once before with my sister) to show him why I thought a plain band looked cr*p with my engagement ring (a plain band was what I wanted to start with and normally I'm frugal and OH is the extravagant one so he was laughing at me changing my mind and wanting diamonds).

However after trying some rings on he now agrees with me - my engagement ring is quite unusual, he got it shipped from the US and is a very highset American-style band with a big sapphire and then diamonds all along the band. Because it's quite a big ring, plain flat bands are lost against it. Problem being we can't afford the £3k for the best matching platinum wedding ring we found  and even this ring wasn't as high as mine so looked a bit funny!

So we went on to the website of the place he got my ring from and they have a matching wedding ring that actually looks good and only costs $890! Or I can get the eternity version which has half the diamonds in the band replaced by sapphires... trying to decide whether I want the more traditional diamond band or the sapphire one and can't decide. The sapphire one is more unusual, or should I wait in the hopes of actually getting an eternity ring one day :o

Here's the two rings (the sapphire version has one extra stone):

And for reference, my engagement ring (the sapphire is quite a light sapphire in person, matching the eternity ones:

    Which one to get????

I can't help you choose, but the middle one is what I want!!
  • The top one is similar to my wedding ring, I got it from argos it was £99 from £299, I've look at other rings exactly the same and they are £500+

  • Personally I would go for the first band as I think the engagement ring is suppose to be the stand out one and the second band might detract from the engagement rings beauty. However only you can decide, they are all lovely :)

  • I think I'd go for the first one too - but I'm biased as that is the style that I want for my ring. You could get sapphires for an eternity ring maybe...

I'm having a bit of a meltdown. I had initially thought that I would only go dress shopping once I'd lost weight as I don't want to feel crap trying on dresses as a fatty. I have been half-heartedly trying to lose weight for a couple of years (unsuccessfully) as I put a lot on when I was stressed and comfort eating when I did a Masters (alongside working fulltime) a few years ago. So I'm putting more effort in now (going to gym) but I think it will take a while to shift. I imagine it will be gone by the wedding. Fingers crossed!

But I'm going to a wedding show in a couple of weeks and it would be stupid not to try on dresses when I'm there as there are so many under one roof. What did you do? Did you wait to lose weight before trying on dresses or did you take a gamble and try them on in the hope you'd lose weight in time?

  • Ladies, do any of you have any pictures of your bridesmaids wearing the dresses? They'd be a cheap alternative to the ones I was looking at, the colours are fairly limited though and online it says in a few reviews that the material is kinda see through?

Would love to know before I buy them, that said, I'll keep an eye out for special offers as I'd be getting it delivered to Ireland
