Well, after reading all the inspiring posts, Im starting my first F F tomorrow, having spent £25.93 in Mr T today. Lots of fresh fruit and veg, milk for fridge and freezer and all household cleaners/sundries are stocked up. Have only some parking to pay for on Thurs but this has been budgeted for so not counting it.
Wish me luck

Not on the fast ,spent money on sat on wine and food for mum coming over, but spent nothing other than this so have £60 of food budget still left .
I too am finding eat slightly better, have always cooked from scratch but am now eating more fruit and veg rather than throwing it out if past it's best.
Still have my happy-cash but will need this for the wedding and eurovision party, and may just have enough petrol to last the month out.
Good luck missShoes!!
Walk away from the purse...............:TYep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
And we're off - again. Milk and cream today so hopefully that's it now.
I do love this challenge. I am using some of the money I'm saving to buy bits and pieces for my house and garden.
Today bought some new cushions and throws for my sitting room from my happy cash:D - 25% off at Sainsbugs.
They came to £34 less £10 off with my points and then £17 from my small change jar, so only spent £7 really. :j Still got some happy cash left to buy some artwork for the walls.
Hello MissShoes & good luck. Lots of tips and support on here.
Just edited to say - also bought some half price Ben & Jerry's ice cream - well it would have been rude not to.0 -
Well day 1 is done. Not one penny parted with.
A salad taken to work for lunch, fruit for breakfast as I was running late so will be having cereal tomorrow morning.
Dinner was lamb from freezer.
Lunch for tomorrow already made.
Car full of fuel.
Will take out something from freezer, prob mince, to do with pasta tomorrow.
Have checked my bank and it's empty! No pay day for 11 days so it will be a VERY tight countdown to payday. I have around £15 in my purse, plus £10 in Mr T vouchers.
I don't feel panicked or worried, just capable and empowered by the challenge!

Day 3 and no reason to shop for anything so my purse is definitely shut today.School run as usual, then a bit of baking I think.
Stack of ingredients to play with, and I have a yen for a quiche as I have some delicious cheese that i brought home from holiday its cheddar with lime and chilli, and I had some yesterday in a ham & cheese toastie so i think I may make a quiche as I have some mushrooms as well in the fridge and half a packet of that churned up bacon bits from tescos to use up.They are brilliant cooked to a crisp, and I have been using them as jacket potato filling.if I make a nice quiche with eggs, mushrooms, bacon and chilli cheese that will be excellant for dinner tonight with some salad.I also have a couple of new Jersey Royals left over from last night that can go into the salad as well so thats tonight's dinner sorted and possible a good bit left over for midweek.I am also going to fish out my small yohurt pots and make some strawberry jelly and half fill the pots up, and propbably top with some made up cold custard as I have a bit of milk going spare. So half a dozen puds sorted to last until the week-end.Now just what to do with a quarter of a pot of single cream, and thats some of the left overs all sorted.0 -
Morning JackieO, lovely way to use everything up and I feel quite hungry now
How about creme brûl!e for the single cream, then the egg whites into meringue and you have more 'afters' sorted.

Just about to dive into freezer shelves and noticed that fridge part has HUGE block of ice at the back. This has been building for a while and to be honest I have just ignored it. It is now massive , about half size of back of fridge.
So does this mean that it is basically bust beyond redemption or is it that I just need to do a defrost ?
It isn't freezing things in the fridge , in fact everything is lovely and cold...but obvioussly this can't be right.
Didn't want to spend hours defrosting it , to find that what I really need to be doing is buying a new one. Thermostat is on no.3 so I haven't turned it up by mistake.
Has this happened to anyone ? Or know about pooped fridge/freezers ?Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
I had to defrost my small freezer y`day for the same reason so I`d try defrosting it first and then see. Put a bowl of very hot water on the shelves to speed the process. If it`s ok, no point of spending out unnecessarily?0

Thanks for reply , I will try it. And agree with not spending if I can get away with it. I usually use a hair dryer too to hurry the process along.
God this is gonna be a nightmare as the freezer part is like a tardis......with lots of things keeping the next thing in so to speak , I will never get it all back in.
But positive is that I will eventually get to see what I do actually have.......which may result in hardly any spending of this months remaining food budget......always a positive somewhere .:rotfl:
