I really don't mind it too much as it gives me a chance to watch some catch-up t.v. but I do hate putting the blooming stuff away :).

    Hi Folks,

Do you mind if I join in with you for a while. I've just gone Wednesday to Tuesday without spending any money and it was more luck than management but it felt really good towards the end when I realised how long it had been.

So today I'm going to go to the supermarket for a couple of bits, as it stands I need a bulb of garlic, carrots, yoghurt and a packet of dried mixed herbs, although I'm sure there'll be something else, and then tomorrow I'll start the Fiscal Fast and try to go Friday to Friday.

    Good luck everybody :)

Welcome kerfuffle , beware though, this threa makes you think ALL the time about what you are doing,or it has me anyhow...joking aside is lovely thread and helpfull people.

Not fasting at the moment , but due to watching every penny now decided it would make sense to make own jewelery for wedding at wk/end and avoid major shopping center........which has resulted in me having 5 trips to the village 'bead/jewelery' shop, buying allsorts of stuff which ended costing £20 ish and started getting annoyed with the whole thing as it was taking so much time rather than going into town and just choosing something (which would have cost 3 times that prob).

But in fact once I finally got home with my bits, and have sat making stuff I actually feel really good, and no-one will have anything like mine ever.

I used to spend hours making stuff years ago , but this 'fast paced ' work all the time life we all seem to lead has somehow shot that out of the water for me , and am re-evaluating what I do with my time loads since joining this forum.

Plus....I have been supporting local shop (she must think I'm bonkers with 5 visits) , and have avoided the mass market shops,so it has been worth it on lots of different levels.

    Keep going all

Made it through day one without spending. Gardening this morning and afternoon and after 2 days of doing this can really see a big difference in my veg beds. At lunchtime I packed up a toasted ham and cheese muffin and some soup in a flask and took pup in the car to one of our favourite walking places. Had a lovely picnic, though a bit breezy! Then a good long walk. Part of the area we walk on has a bootsale on it on Wednesday and Saturday and although the organisers are VG re tidying up etc there are sometimes useful bits left behind. Today I found a rechargeable battery that looks brand new, a gold tone necklace that I don't really like but can go in the CS bag and then a silver necklace with a flower shaped pendant :T Paprika roasties, kippers and veg for tea - cooked enough for 2 meals so the second one is plated up in the fridge for Saturday.

All in all a very good start to this FF :)

managed 4 out of 7 days which is pretty pants when you consider that I have been successful on two separate occasions. Had a family emergency and a couple other things cropped up. Out of the three days I spent money, money only came out of my bank account on two occasions so it's not *that* bad.

    Anyhoo ...

Next week, I will be spending money on Tuesday and Thursday and will be putting in the ground work for another fast starting on Friday 25th. I just need to make sure that my meals are planned and have some snacks in to avoid temptation. On my last fast I craved pizza so I now make sure that there is always one in the freezer!

    Hi calicocat,

    Thanks for the welcome :D

Well done with the jewellry making. I think a lot of things these days can be made fairly cheaply in comparison to shop-bought stuff until you take into consideration time and labour, and then it's probably cheaper to buy the item instead. Having said that, if you enjoy making stuff and you have the time to do it, even if it's only half an hour a day, then you're better off making it. By being inexpensive, providing enjoyment and being unique it will tick more of the boxes.

On the topic of Fiscal Fast, I went to the store on Thursday and bought the items on my list, plus some sweetie-treaties to see me through the week. I figured if I got them now I'd be less likely to give in to temptation and go and buy something on impulse.

So that's me off the starting block, and yesterday I never even left the house so I can happily report that Day One was a success.

Now the weekend is here I guess this is the hardest time for most people, so here's to everybody staying strong  or :coffee: if you prefer.:)

Broke my fast today just 3 days in :( I've had my eye on a table in a charity shop to use for a desk - my current set up is small and not really working. Passed the shop today and the table was still there - and reduced by 30% :T Had to have it! Went in to pay and my card was declined  But have reserved it so technically I've spent. Back home checked online banking - table would have put me overdrawn by £6-49 - I'd forgotten a quarterly payment in my calculations. Will pay on Monday. As I'd spent - or tried to - I got a bottle of wine for the weekend as well.

Well I lasted 5 days- a week of FF and a weekend off.

Have just done shopping for next week at Mr T and Mr A. Mr T came to £10.84 and so I spent £10 of vouchers and I paid £0.84. Mr A came to £18.64, OH paid £10 and I paid £0.64 in cash and £8 on card.

Have enough milk, bread, cheese, meat, veg, tinned goods, sauces, pulses and carbs for the week. No fruit, might pop into ald1 tomorrow.

Will go again next week until Fri night when I have plans. Only some parking to pay for which I have change for already.

Well my whole money pots, jars ect seem to have got all mixed up due to wedding yesterday.

    Had £80 happy-cash,grabbed £30 from emergency.must have also grabbed £30 of food money as only £30 left........I think that's what I did ???

Anyhow , went out with £130, spent £20 on bottle of cheap champers for bride as have been off work so hadn't put into work pressie , £30 on taxis , and £ 10 on drinks.

Have £70 left so have just put this back into happy-cash as this will be easier as have the eurovision thing next weekend rather than trying to put bits back into various pots.

Eurovision night should only cost £20 for a bottle of wine to take and no doubt indian take-away , unless I need petrol which is possible.

SO.......I am going to fly to shops now and get what I think I will need for the next 6/7 days and try the fast again. If I take it from 3pm this afternoon, that takes me to 3pm the day of the party.

6 days is better than none......:).

Good luck to those on it...or at least trying
