Having had a lucky run on YS I need to join you all on here again, overspent the budget last month but still a little bit down on last year.
so quite happy with that but would really like to get rid of the shelf freezer in my kitchen and just keep small chest freezer in spare room. so here goes day 3 for me and really want to go for 10.Slimming World at target0 -
I think I will give this a go this week. This is my third NSD in a row, but I am working in London on Thursday which will be a challenge (I normally work from home, so there is great novelty in buying lunch). I also can't remember when I last had no spends on a weekend!
We are fairly well stocked up, but I will have to dust off the breadmaker if we want a loaf!Swagbucks Amazon gift vouchers 2014 125/250

Hello all,
Day 3 of my fiscal fast and all going well thus far. Need to use up some bacon so am going to try a new recipe for a bacon and pea risotto.
I need to go through my freezer and pantry sometime this week as chaos reigns! This will help me enormously in my menu planning I am sure.
Nice to have others to chat to as it can get quite lonely. I don't know anyone in real life who would contemplate doing a fiscal fast.

Morning all,
Up early as awaiting delivery of my new stove :j
Day 4 of FF, and I will not be going to the shops. I will need to get some more butter and soya milk by the end of the week, but I think it is Jackie who waits until she has a number of items on her list, before shopping? I am trying to do the same!
We do have some Pure spread and almond milk that I can use up too.
We are planning on getting our house valued in July, depending on the valuation we may be moving to a smaller place, if we find somewhere we like. Suddenly occurred to me this morning that I should therefore be using up my freezer and pantry stock, this will help with the FF.
Hope you all have a nice day.
Erica, how is your FF going?

peony40 indeed it is I try to have between 7-10 items on my list if I can to warrant going to the shops otherwise you end up spending on stuff you see and get tempted by. Day four for me as well today, I am going to try to get to Saturday before I have a small shop(and it will be a small one, as I am eating from my stocks at the moment
:)) I am off to the theatre this afternoon with my two Dds but this morning I will be making some soup with some past -their -best veg from the veg rack.great for light lunch with some crackers.
I had my friends LO quiche yesterday for lunch and it was delicious Last night was Quiz night at the pub and the £2.00 covers not only the quiz by a small meal as well. We had a small plate of chicken casserole which was really nice. Its only a small country pub and Tuesday night is always their 'dead' night so the quiz puts bums on seats and the chap who cooks uses up anything left over from their lunchtime menu for quizzers snack meals in the evening. Our team came 6th as their was a lot of modern music questions and most of my team are ...shall we say a little older that most:):) But its a great night out for £2.00.
I have a seperate budget bag for entertainment every month (Happy Cash ) and put £30.00 in there to cover quiz and my History club so it doesn't come out of my food purse.
I also popped imto Dobbies yesterday as it was coffee morning for my U3A group (I have a Dobbies card and it gives me two free tea or coffee's per month) Great value as I only pay £10.00 per year and I also get 10% discount of everything I buy. So a natter and a free large Latte was very nice yesterday morning:)
As my DDs would say Frau Frugal rides again:):)
Lunch today will be left over pasta sauce with some pasta and a pear from the fridge(I bought some pears about 10 days ago and they have kept very well in the bottom drawer of my fridge and are still firm) Tonight will probably be soup and crackers and cheese as I'm not sure what time we will get back from the theatre as its in Dartford about 25 miles away and it will be rush hour on the M2 coming home .
Have a good day chums and keep hanging on to the pennies
Cheers JackieO xxx0 -
I love reading your posts Jackie, they always make me feel optimistic.
I have just been working on my shopping list and I have eight items, so I will pop to the local shop on Friday.
Your quiz evening sounds fun. Enjoy your trip this afternoon.
I like your idea of an entertainment fund. This month is particularly tight due to my over expenditure in May, but going forward I will put 'Happy Cash' aside.
Still waiting for my stove!

I really need to join you folk. We were so good at once a week shopping but now find ourselves nipping into the supers daily. Still need to make the most of YS foods but drop all the extras that fall into the basket. Tut, tut.
I too love reading JackieO's posts. Its like having a resident mum/nan to lead the way.
Have just moved house and discovered in my barren new tiny garden one little hidden area of wild rocket. Salad for free and it is delicious! How it got there when nothing else grows but weeds I don't know.
Now I'm going to read bsck on this thread as I need the encouragement to be strong.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Rocket is the one salad I cannot tolerate! I was once told I have a mild allergy to pepper, which might be the cause?
I also love JackieO's posts. My mum is so far away, and I take great comfort in things that remind me of her! Mind, she's not very MSE, but her tone is very similar otherwise! :heart2:
Since I decided to stop spending, it seems like there is even more temptation to buy! I made a sausage and pasta casserole last night, and really fancied garlic bread to go with. We don't even have any bread in the house for me to attempt making my own.
Tonight's menu is more difficult than usual to plan, as it seems everything I fancy has an ingredient missing. It doesn't help that we don't have any carb-y sides in other than pasta (no more wholemeal left- I normally mix half and half), two packets of flavoured microwave rice or oven chips. We're trying to cut down on fat and carbs, and between Hubbs and I have lost 3 stone since March. Anyhow, I've taken chicken breasts out of the freezer, and have a few hours to decide what to do with them!
I have half a dozen items for the next shopping list. I keep it on my phone so it is never left at home! My memory becomes very terrible the moment I step in a grocery store..Swagbucks Amazon gift vouchers 2014 125/250
