This week I have spent less than £4 on top ups and will be doing the monthly shop at a german discounter for the basics but hope to be able to get through the months with only a few low sub £5 top up shops and that will be mainly YS items as well. Things are going well this month. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0

Good Morning all well today is the day I break open my purse to buy a few things as my list has reached a dozen items
:) I am off to Lidl's and possibly Aldi's to do a small shop at 10.00 a.m. this morning
it will be the first shop this month so 8 days out of the way .
I have £60.00 nestling in my purse and I'm hoping to only buy exactly what I need and no more so watch this space:):)
Its been really good using up lots of different stuff this week and playing 'freezer roulette' (I must start marking thing that I freeze:):)). I have to buy fresh milk and quite a bit of fruit and veg and a few basic items so I'm hoping for less that £15.00 the lot if I can.
Cheers chums

Evening all, well I was quite pleased with my small shop and managed to get everything I needed for £13.79.So I have £46.21 left in my food purse to last me untilt eh end of the month a mere 21 days away
:):) should be do-able as I am away next weekend with Dd from Saturday morning until Sunday night We are having a spa day in The Old Belfry Hotel in Thame in Oxfordshire which she won from her firm for being the top negotiator. On the sunday we are going to Pangbourne College where my nephew's son is in the Falklands Day Memorial parade as its his school, so its going to be an interesting weekend, and no cooking for me
:):)
In my small shop I even managed to bag two very lean pork steaks which have been wrapped and frozen for later. So the padlocks have gone back on my food purse:):) for at least another week if not more.
well done to all of you in your efforts to hang onto the pennies
Cheers JackieO xxx0 -

Morning all,
Lisa, very impressed by the number of NSD and on such a small outlay!
Jackie, next weekend sounds fun.
Well, I am on day 3 of my FF, and I don't plan on going shopping until Friday this week. I am running low on soya milk but I do have some rice milk in the cupboard. Not sure if we will like it, but will give it a go.
I would like to have some money over by the end of the month to put towards some treats when my husband is on holiday at the beginning of July. Even enough for an ice cream will be nice!
Hope you all have a nice day.

My second FF day and getting the hang.
Nearly popped to the super for cheese for supper this evening but went with a little piece of Edam tucked away in the fridge. Was delish once I allowed it to get to room temp, something I rarely give time to do.
Have been raking through the freezer and found some sliced roast pork leftover from a Sunday dinner so that will be lovely for dinner tomorrow braised in gravy. I'll serve it with some little potatoes that badly need using and a YS savoy cabbage, a couple of carrots and a roasted parsnip.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

I had a small spend for dinner on Saturday, as we didn't stay at the garden party, but otherwise had a successful 7 days! We did a small top up shop on Sunday for the items I missed out on for the past week, but managed to forget milk! Although it was a NSD today, I'll need milk for my cereal tomorrow.
I'm hoping to save a few pennies for my 'holiday' this month. I'm going home (Canada) for a whole month, and Hubbs is staying here.. He's going to Glastonbury, and we have a big holiday planned in December so it's not all bad for him! I don't have any savings for my time away, as any money I've put away has gone on plane tickets - I've already been twice this yearI'm staying with family, so shouldn't need a lot for spending at least!

Day three of my next lot of NSD and still hanging on to my cash
:)
Well done chums we are going great guns.Last night I had a small tin of tuna chunks and a small tin of sweetcorn mixed together with a dollop of sweet chilli sauce and a dash of mayo and had half with some salad. tonight I'll have the other half in a jacket spud.Lunch will be the last of the HM soup and some crackers and cheese.I am really trying to use up more from my cupboard stash of tinned stuff if I can and basing some dinners around what I already have in stock.I always have salad bits lettuce, toms, cue's in the fridge so its often just a case of adding odds and ends to it to bulk it up a bit.I have a nice jar of beetroot and some HM onion chutney that I was given which spices up the salad nicely:):)Even a hard boiled egg and some grated cheese with soon fill you up

Good Morning all,
Lovely to know that we are all still trying to do our best on our FF.
I am now on day 5, and no money has been spent. I will bake a cake today as we have ran out of biscuits to have with our evening cups of tea. All cake ingredients are in the house except for cocoa so I will make a sultana cake not chocolate!
I will need to do a shop on Friday as we are running low on baked beans and cheese. As I am now shopping locally and I don't drive I can only buy a shopping basket's worth so it saves me money.
Good Luck all.
