Im back too, welcome to the new folk and goodluck. I have just dug up a load of new pots and made pot salad with red onion and chopped mint only thing not from garden was red onions they not grew yet . Also made noodle salad 20p pk of curry noodles and frozen peas and chopped mint cooling in fridge. Salad will be heavy in my menu from now on as my little gem lettuces are growing like crazy as is radishes and beetroots so i can hopefully save an ample amount on those items till about october weather permitting. Shall have pork chop in bbq rub tonight with salad, no bread as on a diet good luck all xxxC.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z #7 member N.I splinter-group co-ordinater

Hello everyone
Haven't spent any money at all since Thursday so on day 4 of my fiscal fast. Only doing it on food though as that seems to be where my money goes! And tomorrow I need to put fuel in the car(that's from another budget). Managing really well as my cupboards are well stocked, freezer full and have loads of tins! Need to downsize on food stock I think.

Well I spent a whopping £2.09 this morning and bought some milk and a pot of value yoghurt (I use it not only in cooking but instead of cream on cereal or fresh fruit salad) I also got a couple of bananas and a small portion of fresh grapes.I have pears in the fridge drawer and 8 oranges in the fruit bowl in the conservatory so I now have enough fruit for this week at least. Its over half way though the month and I've not spent £20.00 yet
:):)I keep turning up odds and ends in my freezer.I have got a pasta bake out of the freezer for tomorrow night that I had forgotten about right at the back:) so thats dinner sorted.cereal and a few chopped grapes for breakfast and crispbread and philly cheese with sliced tomato's and cucumber at lunchtime.another day sorted without having to buy anything .I'm really pleased at how the food is doing and how I'm stretching it out by using stuff already in store
Well done chums it can be done:):)

I am not doing great in terms of a fiscal fast as I get the odd item every few days but the spending is very low. £2.11 yesterday and I can avoid shopping for a few more days without a problem. Now more than half way through the month and have spent very little other than my main top up shop, and have weeks of food in store so could still be months away from a big online shop. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0

Morning all - can I jump right back in and try a week?
I have cupboards bulging with food and 2 freezer's full - yet never seem to have the right thing iykwim! I'm also doing slimming world so any adjustments have to fall in line - fresh fruit n veg etc. However the holiday is just 8 weeks away so could do with tightening the purse strings - and I love a challenge!
Today's food is porridge oats (soaked overnight with a little milk), grated apple and a yoghurt for breakfast, lunch of tinned new pots, sweetcorn, egg, lettuce and ys trout fillet from the freezer and a dinner of a chicken fillet with potatoes, carrots and broccoli. Not too shabby a start but looking forward to the weird combinations!44 day challenge
1. Pay £650 off overdraft (£ 288/ £650)
2. Lose 12 lbs (4.5/ 12)
3. Use YNAB everyday (6/44)0 -
No spending for me yesterday - I went round to a friends house in the evening and took a bunch of flowers from the garden!
No intention to go into any shops today either as we have plenty of food.Trying to keep in budget.

Hi all
Has the concept of the fiscal fast changed for this group? I haven't been able to manage one for ages because I constantly seem to need to take DS somewhere, however reading back on this it seems that most people are talking about food shopping only. Is that right? If it is then I can probably join you!My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
Total £4151.44 | £2900.30 of £7051.74 paid off since diary started October 2024.0 -

Well I include any shopping but if I exclude food shopping I can go for weeks without a spend. It is harder to acheive a 7 day fiscal fast if you include everything including food. I use to get 4 pints of milk but that meant I would run out after 4 or 5 days so making it impossible to achieve. Even with a six pint carton of milk I will inevitably run out of something which I will have forgotten about so having to break the fast that way. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0
