Good morning chums well I did my shop yesterday and was pleased to get everything for the rest of the month foraround £23.90 so definitely no more shopping this month. It means I have £17.99 to go into the 'holiday pot' savings This helps to pay for treats and ice creams when I am away on holiday with my DD and four DGS.Every little helps :):):)
Some months its been down as low as a couple of pounds to go into the little tin money box but this month was very good as I have been using up more stuff from my store cupboards and freezer.
My shop yesterday incuded lots of reduced price veg I got
Chantonnay carrots ,green beans ,cucumber, tomatoes, leeks, red onions, apples, pears,a cabbage some oranges, black and white grapes ,some raspberries and a galia melon all reduced. The carrots, leeks, green beans and red onions have all been chopped and frozen for a later date.Great to use in HM soups the other stuff is in the fridge or my conservatory so I have lots of fruit and veg available for next week.
I also snaffled a couple of gammon steaks that had been reduced from £2.90 to £1.31 so a couple of meals from those were bought and been put into the fridge. They too have been frozen for later. I also spotted Philly cheese on special offer at a £1.00 a tub with a spetember date on it so a couple of those So tomorrow morning as usual while listening to The Archers on the wireless I shall do my menu's for the rest of the month.A really good shop and at less than I thought it would be :):):):)
Well done to those of you who have kept a sharp eye out for the bargains, I seem to keep a running menu in the back of my mind when I go shopping so when I see reduced stuff I can buy it and think 'Mmmm a bit of a switch around this week but less cash spent in the long run'.:):):)This month has really been good for bargains in F&V maybe its because a lot of people have been staying at home watching the footie istead of shopping :):) great stuff for the canny shoppers though :):)
Onwards and upwards chums.July will be on us before we know it and hopefully more bargains to be found .
    Cheers chums

Morning all - one week in and I am hanging my head in shame. In my defence the local butcher was closing down and slashed the meat prices so I just couldn't walk past!

However - onwards and upwards. I have cleared out the stock cupboard (don't worry I didn't throw anything away that could be of use - dates don't matter that much to me) and have used an empty box to assemble a pile of tins / packets that I want to use this week. My personal challenge is to adjust any meal plans to use these up. They are all out of date and consist of a paella mix (the fresh fish / meat is added after), a risotto mix, a packet of uncle bens rice, a packet of couscous, a sugar free jelly and some cannelloni tubes. don't know why bought some of these but they have been lurking in the cupboards for a couple of years.

I have already had the risotto mix - very nice, and made the paella last night - enough for today's lunch and a freezer portion. The lemon rice is with chicken today and I have made the sugar free jelly up into individual trifle bases with some fruit from the freezer. The couscous will be on Monday as part of my lunch with some ham from the freezer and the cannelloni will be used later in the week.

So - Day 1 and off and running.
    44 day challenge

    1. Pay £650 off overdraft (£ 288/ £650)
    2. Lose 12 lbs (4.5/ 12)
    3. Use YNAB everyday (6/44)

On day 10 of the fiscal, fast, so I'm doing fine, but I don't have any fresh veggies or fruit. (I have frozen and tinned though) but I will keep going a bit longer. HM yogurt is fine, and will have to bake some bread as I have run out, I'm missing sweet things but I have found a cupcake baking box that I bought for dgc1, so I think I will be making that some time very soon!!!!(like tomorrow)

Aah, I wondered what Fiscal Fast was when I saw it in someone's signature. Now I know :o I think it's great if you can have days where you don't spend any money. I just need to hypnotise my OH into thinking it's a great idea too :o

I could have sworn I posted earlier today! Must be a muddle aged moment. I haven't been perfect this week but I have had 3 Nob spend days. This week I need to pick up eggs and cherries and then it's through to the end of the week with no stopping! it'll take a while to get really in the habit of spending less often
    Trying to keep in budget.

craigywv I am so impressed by you, well done thats great what you've achieved.a jolly good bake/cook up.Well I made 3.litres of leek and tattie soup over the weekend and was about to do a big bake to fill the cake boxes up then DD rang to say want to come out to play Mum so off I went with the four boys and herto Viking Bay at Westgate for the day as the sun was blazing down and it was just too nice to waste a gorgeous sunny day.We had a great day out,its a fabulous beach and hardly anyone there.(not too suprising as apart from a small cafe and a little ice cream kiosk there are no 'musements and just a very long sany beach.Great for the boys to play footie on and DD to go 'crabbing' and Granny (me :):)) to just sit in the sun with the picnic and flask and read my book.Pure heaven,I even dabbled my toes in the sea which was luke warm..NSD this week at all as I am now fully stocked up until the end of the month:):):)Today I will catch up on the baking and make a sultan and cherry cake and some biscuits. My youngest DGS Mikey has two inset days off school (teachers have these for making their summer reports at his school) so I will have a little 10 year old to give me a hand :):)He loves baking so will be very useful today.I also want to scour through the cupboards and maybe like Ninno820 drag out some OOD stuff which I'm sure is in there and use it up.I have a small plastic basket that I can put on the worktop and use to chuck stuff in to use up.Its going to be an interesting week for sorting out some of the tinned stuff I have :):):)
Well done chums we are all really getting into the swing of things aren't we
nannygladys well done on your yoghurt making, saves a lot.I buy the basic value stuff and use fresh diced up fruit to flavour it rather than buy flavoured ones.A big pot is only 45p and does me for at least a week,or I just shove a dollop on top of tinned fruit instead of cream. :):):)
Right off to have a cuppa .
    Cheers fellow F/fasters

Can I ask how this works, please. I understand the no spending each day but OH has transport costs and there are bus fares for schools, each day. Would I not count those?

I really need to get our finances in order so the less we spend, the better really :)
