that's getting fixed tomorrow according to the announcement0 -
this feature is as bad as, if not worse than, that awful 'rate this user/post' thing that was thankfully canned :j
Nice idea in theory but in practice, no it doesn't work at all IMO0 -
Sorry folks it is here to stay. Changes are always 'awful' at first. Very few things have ever been welcomed. I like this one
1. Because it means no more 'thank you posts' which are much more disruptive than one persons thank you at the bottom
2. Because people like to say thank you and its nice to do
3. Because it enables people to scan the posts with most thank yous
If you don't like the thank you display - if you switch to the linear or hybrid view modes it disappears

Sorry ,just don't like it at all.
I wonder how much control there is over the text and the box. Maybe if it were bumped up a little.

(I don't know much about this - maybe I just suggested a lot of work - think I'll hide now)

I seem to be in the minority but I actually like the new thanks hack!
I am one of the people that likes to thank people for posts but admit that this can clutter threads up unnecessarily.
I like this system. Also saying thanks doesn't bump people's post counts up under this new system, so it might reduce the number of people saying 'thanks' to a lot of posts, just to bump their post count up.
I can't find anything wrong with a system that encourages users to thank each other. I personally think it is nice to see who has said thanks. People are often too quick to post their criticisms where everyone can see, so I think the thanks should be made public, too.

Would it be a possibility to maybe add an icon on the bottom left next to the report this post icon. Anyone interested can click the icon to see who has thanked the message.
The thank you boxes are a bit untidy between posts, but I think the actual idea is a good one. It is surely a better idea than having three pages of thank yous after one original post? This way will also stop people trying to bump up their post count with loads of thanks yous and no real replies/messages. It will also stop whole pages being bumped and taken over by thanks and therefore driving other useful posts further down the board. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Just tried switching to both of those modes but it didn't change anything - I can still see the 'thankyou' boxes in between posts...what am I doing wrong?0
