Thanks Shinner,
It's hard work isn't it? I think if you disappear and hide away from everyone until your are out of debt it would be so much easier. I find the things that mess me up the most are birthdays, Christmas (presents and other peoples parties) and other people trying to talk you into doing things. I have even told a few friends about my situation to try and get them to understand and stop begging me to go places with them but they are well off and they just don't get that I can't just go and blow £50 or more on a lunch or a night in the pub! They don't understand that anything extra has to come out of my weekly food shop allowance as that is all I have left after the bills/ debts are paid. I've just had to make out to a work colleague that I have a really busy social life to get out of going to her 30th which is about 25 miles away and will involve sharing an expensive taxi, buying / renting fancy dress, drinks etc.... She is really upset that I'm not going but it's too much to ask in my situation. I'm staying home but pretending I'm out at another birthday do that night! :rotfl:LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Well it's my day off today and I can't do much with my debts so I'm having a spring clean. Everything out of every cupboard and drawer and sorted out! I have signed up to Zapper so I'm going to go through all my books and dvds and package a boxful off to send to them. I've also signed up on Nectar to the Oxfam tag a bag scheme so that everything I send to the charity shop can potentially earn me some points. :j
First of all though, the dogs need to go for a walk.... grr..... its blowing a gale outside..... and I'd better make sure I don't lose the cat again!
Later, when I've finished, I'm going to try and summon the enthusiasm to do some online surveys! I need to stay focussed. It is starting to look like it is going to be a struggle to get out of debt this year as I had planned. I really need to put some effort in.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend :beer:LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Well I have finished spring cleaning the entire house and it only took me 8 hours! Owchhh Back aching.......
I managed to fill 4 bags full of stuff to go to Oxfam to hopefully raise me some Nectar points.
I got together £12 worth of books & dvd's to send off to Zapper..... Just need to drop them off at the collection point and wait for my cheque.... Oh and talking of Cheques..... I found one screwed up at the back of the book case from 2011!! (shows how often i sort out the book case!) Its only for £1.04 which is probably why it got forgotten about. I guess it is too late to pay it in now? I may just try it anyhow when my cheque comes through for my books. :rotfl:
Found some brand new stuff that I can re-cycle as xmas / birthday presents, like a bottle of whisky I'll never drink and some smellies etc...
All in all it has been a good day! :TLBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Gosh it is February already and in one months time I will have been on my DMP for two years! And that means review time!
The only problem is that both my remaining debts are with Barclaycard and they put the interest up after last years review. Not a huge amount but I'm paying approx £20 on each card each month.
Now I'm worried that as I have paid my other debts and because my balance has come down I'm paying pretty much what they want each month, they may put my interest up even more. In their eyes I probably don't look to be having financial difficulties any more.
If they put the interest up there is no way I will be debt free this year
I am also wondering if I should get ahead of them and write to them now rather than waiting for them to contact me in March. Last year I had the nightmare of them constantly ringing the main reception at my workplace, even though I had come to an agreement with them.
I wish they would just fix the interest until the balance is paid off!LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Well I have had my yearly review and it couldn't have gone better!
I sent Barclaycard a message online on Sunday Evening saying my review was due and I wanted to get it sorted before they came chasing me. I thanked them for their help so far and asked if I could continue on the reduced interest plan and pay the same amount that I am currently paying. They contacted me back this am and said yes that is fine and they will review again in another year! I didn't have to send them an updated budget sheet or anything!! Woo hoo! :T
I am so relieved! I was half expecting them to whack the interest back up now I'm not in as much debt!
That is it now as I should be out of debt before my next review is due!
My plan now is to clear my overdraft by April (it was March originally but I've fallen behind) then use that account to save up enough to maybe offer a settlement figure on my Barclaycards. If they accept then I'm debt free a few months sooner but if not it should be sometime around Christmas (or it may fall into next year if I can't quite scrape together enough)
Just need to keep my fingers crossed now that it all goes to plan!LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]

Good news on the review and like you say it will all soon be gone! x0

Well I have had a mixed sort of day today.
Car broke down  Needs a new alternator.... again!!! Only got one in June!!! On the plus side the part is covered under warranty..... on the negative side I have to pay the labour to get it fixed.
Had my hair donePaid for by my hubby!!! :T Had a complete change!! About 5 inches cut off and totally different colour! I love having my hair done.... It's a pity I can only afford to do it every 4 months or so! On the down side the howling wind and torrential rain ruined it on the way back home!
Went to Oxfam and donated all my xmas party dresses and dresses I've bought for weddings etc that I can no longer fit into..... Tagged my bags so I can get Nectar points and they can claim gift aid. The man in the shop actually said "Wow!" When I handed them over! It felt good to be helping charity and helping someone get a fab dress or two at a bargain price!
Trying like mad to do some surveys online..... earning pennies rather than pounds... seems a bit pointless sometimes when you need to pay big bills for car repairs but hey ho.... every little tiny bit helps I suppose.....
Have a great weekend everyone :TLBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]
