I'm also 'unavailable' - no statement info and no balance. I really needed to pay a debt by this evening...

I've also had my card quite a while, but I am getting frustrated with the top ups. A few shops have dropped the top up service leaving me only with the cash/pay zone shops that make a £3 charge to top up, and I'm finding the shops are telling me the machines are not working, etc.

Maybe this is a sign of things to come (look at other cards out there).

    its working again now, but not properly. I was able to pay my debt. The account info page has the following statement;

"We are experiencing third party system problems that may affect your card transactions and the availability of certain information, such as your balance, in the Members Area. We are working to get this resolved as soon as possible. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your continued patience."
  • I use my card for bidding on Ebay.

CashPlus had a "technical problem" on 12th July. They duplicated and in some cases triplicated the amounts paypal had requested.

I now have a negative balance when in fact I should still have a positive balance on my card.

They dont make it easy to contact their customer service department and dont appear to be able to advise when things will be resolved.
  • It is worse than you think guys. I have just got back from Halfords where my card was declined twice for the same transacttion. I paid with different card but when I got back to office I now find that that both transactions have gone through. I have now paid for item three times.

    ****STOP USING CASHPLUS CARD IMMEDIATELY****

Amount was not large buit this is serious...........
Which is worse - ignorance or indifference?
Personally I don't know and don't care

    Hi All

I have a CashPlus card and loaded it up yesterday with all my left over cash, went to use it at tesco today... declined.
So I called cashplus and they said there was no issue with my card, tried it at the cash point... declined!
Got home to check my cashplus account and I cant get any info on there and my balance is "unavailible"
    Cant even see my statements!

Just tried to call cashplus again and it came up with an automated message saying that lines are all busy, call again later!

    Anyone else got this problem?
    Please let me know.

Why does this happen when I need my money most

  • I am a big fan of the APS Cashplus card. Yes they do have problems but they ALWAYS sort it out. a few months ago I was charged for the same thing 6 times. But 3 days later they refunded it all without me even needing to ask (I only check once a week). In-fact the only thing I don't like about them is the 0871 number (but i use the 02 number so this is not a problem lol). :)

I didn't have any problems with Cashplus myself because I didn't use it very much but a personal friend has had problems and there are numerous recent posts on MS forums from people who are having problems. I reasoned that these are the tremors before the earthquake and cancelled mine and got a Kalixa card. It's good for me because I just use it for point of sale on web sites that don't accept paypal. Kalixa is free to use for point of sale for U.K. and foreign but expensive for ATMs. Also they don't do banking services like Direct Debits and Standing orders.

  • I have just come back from a month in Thailand as used mine pretty much everyday out there without any problems. Hotels, supermarkets, cash machines.

No there not cheap, but a convenience for those like me, who dont like carry rounds lots of cash.
  • And Again, and Again!!!! NO ACCESS TO MY MONEY!

Sept 3rd & 4th 2012, more merchant problems then on top of that none of their phone numbers Don't work....I refuse to call the 0871 number as my provider charges 11p plus connection charge.

I have had a card since 2007, and this is not Normal.

My problems started full on about March, I would be sent emails offering services! Great I thought loans to rebuild credit... But when applying for said loans it would approve me, I always pay onto me or early...but the iAdvance option disappeared, I was told there was a technical error on my card but leave it to Customer Services....but it kept disappearing and after loans inc interest I've been approved and repaid everything on time. So now they say it's all automated and the system will activate the iAdvance, but nothing, despite almost £4000 being borrowed/repaid since 2006. But the emails still keep coming offering me the opportunity to borrow £400?

All my history with Cashplus, the two credit builders, the 50% improvement in my credit history.

So, I decided to prove them wrong about the system, got myself a second card and was instantly offered a £50 loan, had it twice now. Got it thru quidco and will get £8 for applying...great site.

I have had a new loan since yesterday, and not been able to pay bills dedicated, and have had every attempt declined, but charged to my frozen money ...... no warnings until today.

I tried every email, phone number now today due to my AUTISM I cannot talk to them even if their phones worked. They wouldn't even deal with carer/advocate! They caused my being Non-Verbal, due to financial stress...Everything is on the card.

I am an ex-bankrupt, discharged almost a year. Not much choice, no one will give me even a basic account, despite managing one 2 years up to my bankruptcy. Co-op nor Barclay's...so what do I do

All my money is paid into these accounts. They charge for everything, but haven't taken care of their staff or systems?

My confidence in them, I can only remain in my home, if I am involved in social inclusion, this includes trips, activities planned. How can I pay for an event or activity if I cannot guarantee being able to pay for fuel, food or tickets. My rent and other bills are managed with this.

Today was the last straw... And filed a complaint with the ombudsman. I'll try to post responses and results.

Glad I came across this thread. I have a Cashplus card which I obtained for the Euro currency card. Had a complaint over misleading statements concerning the Euro currency card (already explained in a previous thread) but decided to give them a go anyway.

I was quite impressed with the various facilities offered by the Cashplus card and decided try them out.

Made a trial transfer using their payments facility. It was set up in advance to go on a specified date. It went, definately as a faster payment, but was not received during working hours on the day it was sent. A payment made under identical conditions to the same account from my LTSB account was received during working hours on the day it was sent. My assessment: the payments system works and the payment got there, but their 'faster payments' system is slow and an extra day needs to be allowed.

I was offered a guranteed iadvance (payday loan) within 2 weeks of opening the account, but did not apply.

About a month after opening the account, was offered a £100 overdraft. I accepted the overdraft and paid the arrangement fee up front. Attempted a trial transaction yesterday (at a petrol station after filling up!) which was declined.

Knowing nothing about the problems discussed on this thread, assumed they had simply not set up the overdraft properly. Tried calling but got the run around with their automated system telling me no agent was available and transferring me back to the main menu.

Eventually got through about 3 hours later. The automated system told me that my balance was now about £-14, meaning that the declined transaction was pending on the account. I explained to the customer service agent that I had recently arranged an overdraft on the account but the transaction had been declined in the petrol station about 3 hours previously and then went on to explain that the transaction was now pending on my account.

His reply was that they were having 'some problems' with their syatems and to 'try the transaction again in a couple of hours'. I explained that I did not need to try the transaction again as I had used a different credit card but was very suprised at his answer. Did he really imagine that I was going to stand in a petrol station for 5 hours waiting to pay, unable to leave as the petrol was in my tank?

My continuing the conversation then forced this staff member to admit that he coundn't help me further or even access my account as he was only a ...(sorry .. word has slipped my mind) ... and not a member of the team. I asked to speak to his supervisor or somebody who could help me, but told nobody available.

Perhaps if I had been aware of the problems that Cashplus were having yesterday I would have been less annoyed, but after ending my call to him called the head office number for Cashplus. To be fair to Cashplus, the lady I spoke to on that number was helpful and immediately removed the pending transaction from my account. I nevertheless asked her to remove the overdraft facility and refund the arrangement fee which again she did immediately and without argument.

The problem with all this though is a loss of confidence in Cashplus. I can't load my money onto the Euro card for foriegn use if this is sort of situation is likely to occur again. Same applies to the normal UK card. As I explained to the lady at Cashplus, the purpose of the overdraft was as an emergency reserve. Today, it had not been an emergency; it had been a test transaction. But next time I may be trying to use the overdraft because it was an emergency, and could not take the risk of such an 'emergency' transaction being declined. Hope that makes sense.
