Why would whether or not the RM perform affect you opinion of the buyer?

Alternatively, you'll get a neg from most people if you imply they're scammers.

But its ok for buyers to leave negatives if the royal mail dont perform?

And where am i implying that anyone is a scammer? Please point that part out in my post, i must have missed it!

Leaving feedback is a personal choice, there are no written rules on it. Everyone does things differently.
If i buy i always wait till i get the item to leave feedback then i expect the seller to leave it me.
I'm from the old ebay days when things were a lot more balanced and sellers could leave negs as well as buyers.

It staggers me how many people think the OP is in the wrong here.

I think it's not as many as you think.

I can understand why the OP came on to rant about being harassed for feedback, but then she states she couldn't leave it as she is ill, son is ill, blah blah blah. The point being, her post took longer than the feedback would have taken. But oh no, lets keep on posting.

Some people just need to moan rather that do something that resolves someone else's problems/queries.

I'm sure that after a "diatribe" was given by the seller, the OP was not in the best frame of mind to leave feedback and needed to vent. I don't blame them.

I buy on ebay. You will get feedback from me when I decide I want to leave it. It averages between 3-4 weeks. If I even decide to leave feedback at all. If on a rare occasion someone asked me politely ONCE to leave feedback because their cash is being held, I would do that. But otherwise I mass feedback at least once a month.

For the sellers who post about feedback being expected once item is received, well, tough. It's not part of the process of buying and selling, so I have no obligation to leave you feedback. For those who use it as part of your terms, you're just likely to get people like me come along and win it, and purposefully not leave feedback at all, or pick up on any thing that might be a bit out and mark you down for it. Using feedback to bargain is not going to get you anywhere. I equally don't care if you leave me feedback either. I have more than enough to not be limited on any auction that I might desire to bid on. I usually do BIN, so you could never remove my bid before I bought it, and frankly as I usually BIN anyway, I instantly pay. I just don't leave regular feedback until well after the item ends.

Some would say I'm a model ebay buyer as all I expect is not to get ripped off on postage (will take into account packing etc), I get the item in a time frame that is correctly quoted (I'm highly reasonable on strikes, as well as bad weather), and it arrives as stated. I don't even care if it looks like the packaging is 4th used, as long as it works/did the job! I just do not consider instant feedback as part of the sale.

On the other hand. I will leave negative or neutrals if you hassle me for feedback at any point. I will also not succumb to feedback extortion regarding refunds/removals/additional notes.

To the OP, despite the whining of the sellers here with the wrong impression that it a forced part of the sale, you're not being unreasonable about the rant. I'd actually neut or neg them for feedback hassling (but make sure to say if you're happy with item etc, just not the feedback demands)

I may have had some sympathy towards you, but since you have managed to login in on here many times to whine then quite frankly I don't. When I first started out I didn't tell buyers leaving me feedback will mean I get money and perhaps your buyer is the same.

I don't leave feedback until I have it from my buyer, I don't mind how long it takes for them to leave it, but they won't be getting any from me till they do - I'd guess at 90% of people leave me feedback - much higher than when I did it the other way around.

It is part of the process though. Sellers will not get their money anytime soon unless buyers leave positive feedback so whilst you have your item the seller is out of pocket for that and the postage.

Goodness those that are in favour of the OP seem so arrogant and unaware of how Paypal works for sellers.

I leave feedback for the buyers as soon as they have paid and in return I expect them to leave feedback on the day they recieve the item.

And from me you would. But not if you were one of those who refuse to leave feeback for a buyer until they've left it for you. Add to that harrassment and you have a poor seller.

If you must contact a buyer for feedback, you will get further with a single polite email rather than 3 on consecutive days followed by a diatribe. If positive feedback is that important to you, then you are a fool to harrass people to get it.

Positive Feedback means the seller gets their money ofcourse it is important, and the seller would not need to "Harrass" the OP if she could be bothered to leave feedback.

I just tell them as a buyer I don't leave feedback until the seller has.
I consider if I have paid promptly, and they have received the funds, my part of the transaction is complete

A few people say that - but its not complete is it?

If it was, there would not be returns, SNAD claims, credit card chargebacks, INR claims, "ive bounced the item of the wall and now it wont work" claims, malicious feedback, malicious DRS's.
