Roadside Recovery: AutoAid Feedback
Comments

I e-mailed Autoaid to ask for clarification, and have just received this reply; -Dear *****,
Thank you for your e-mail enquiry.
AutoAid covers you and your spouse driving any car, car derived van, motorcycle (over 150cc), motorised caravan (under 2500cc and 2500kg) for £37.00 per annum, this provides you with total cover, which includes, roadside assistance, a vehicle recovery service to one place of your choice, home assistance, emergency travel or overnight hotel accommodation and an attached caravan or small trailer.
The limits relate to motorcycles and motorised caravans only not cars or car derived vans
We hope this clarifies matters.
Yours sincerely,

Apologies for not reading all 23 pages of comments, but just to alert you to a potential issue in using AutoAid if you are unmarried.
A positive aspect of the policy is that it is personal and covers you and your spouse for any vehicle. HOWEVER spouse is defined as legally married or in a civil partnership, so those like me who are simply co-habiting with a partner would ONLY have cover in their own name.
In my case I need the cover for a car that we both drive, so I would have to pay twice to get the car covered.
They were helpful in pointing this out when I tried to buy cover, so I will look elsewhere0 -

This doesn't make sense to me.
By bikes, I assume you mean motorcycles? Which they do cover, (above 150 cc, although they do not state the cc part in their schedule), from page 2 of their schedule; -
"The vehicle – a saloon car, hatchback, estate car, car derived van, motorcycle or motorised caravan under 2.5 tons gross vehicle weight and with an engine capacity of no more than 2500 cc."

Broke down 4/11.
Recovered in 50 mins.
Sent my claim the same day.
Cheque arrived this morning (14/11).
These ppl do exactly what they say:T0 -
they don't fleece you on the premium either. i've been with them couple of years. not needed to claim and my premium has gone down! £35 renewal this month.0

Joined in Feb - money tight and wanted cover. Very good price compared to AA/RAC. However, my first experience yesterday was a nightmare - had a flat battery, called Auto Aid, told someone would be there within an hour. In the end it was TWO hours and several phone calls to both Auto Aid and their subcontracted garage before anyone came. Extremely frustrating, and wasn't very impressed with call centre either. Would think twice before renewing. :mad:0

Just took out a policy - fingers crossed!0

I am thinking of joining AutoAid, does their policy cover me or the car because if I am driving a different car can it still be used?
Also if I am a passenger in someone else's car can I claim if we break down?0
