A couple of years ago we were travelling to Devon on Holiday and the Clutch went at least 200 odd miles away from our destination!
We managed to arrive using 3-4-5 gears but how, I will never know, and every time we approached traffic lights I prayed that they would turn green before we reached them, just in case we couldn't pull away in 3rd...
We called out the AA on arrival in Devon and as it couldn't be sorted out we were towed to Barnstaple for repair which was miles away from our holiday cottage.
I asked the AA man how we could get back to the cottage and he responded with "they may have a car you can borrow"!(They didn't!)
The garage finally repaired the clutch 4 days later and the bill came to a staggering £659 which killed us stone dead and our holiday was a Right Off because we had no transport to go anywhere apart from up Snowdon which I can safely say was Vertigo Hell for me..lol.
So,all in all Auto Aid sounds like an excellent Breakdown Service because the AA is an absolute crock IMHO .
Thanks for the advice and now off to fill in the form.:T:money:

You went up Snowdon whilst on holiday in Devon? Pretty impressive 300+ mile day out since you didn't have any transport!
  • I got AUTOAID after reading reviews on this website
Today I had to make my first claim for a flat battery....

Called them at 2 pm... got a text saying they will be here by 1542... thats 1 hour 42 mins !! I was surprised that it would take them this long... were they coming from 100 miles away or something ?

I sit here now in the freezing cold at 1605 and no one has turned up !

Have called them twice and all they do is say its gonna take another 10 minutes.... there are about 4 garages withing a quarter mile of where I am...i must say this is PATHETIC SERVICE... i would definitely NOT use AUTOAID again !

You could have called or even walked to one of the local garages and sent the bill to Auto Aid, you don't have to call them.
  • 1630.... no AUTOAID in site... a nice gent saw me waiting, used his jumper cable and restarted my car for me !

    AUTOAID = NOAID
  • I think lisylou and derrick maybe sit next to each other in the AutoAid office?

Did you sign up just to complain about autoaid asim? mmmmmmm:cool:

I have been with them for 3 years and had 2 call outs. Both dealt with straight away and never waited more than 30 minutes on both occasions. More fool anyone who wants to pay for other recovery companies, I think Autoaid are very worthy of my money!

In my 3rd year with AutoAid and very happy.
I've never had a breakdown that I couldn't sort myself before, but in 2009 I had the clutch in my car let go suddenly 60 miles away from home. Recovered within the hour. Got the refund promptly.
Then within a week the NSF lower suspension my wife's Fiesta decided to pop out (common as muck on old Fiesta's according to the recovery guy!). Again sorted by AutoAid.
Dirt cheap and does the job nicely if you are happy to pay and reclaim

    No I don't.
I get pretty sick of people making allegations with no basis when I'm a fairly balanced poster.
By balanced I mean I do not recommend AutoAid for everyone.
Pay and claim is not suitable for everyone and I say so.

It's a cracking deal for £37 and there are many good anecdotes.
They use local companies so experiences can be good and bad.
If you look at the entire www (and remove the lisyloo and derrick factor) you will find a lot of good comment on autoaid and little bad stauff.
However taking snipes at people is easier than doing some independent research huh??

Derrick and I both spend time helping people, although I have to say I'm less inclinde to when people make unfounded allegations of a personal nature.

    Ah post count of 7.
You've obviously spent a lot of your free time helping peple - NOT.

Well done, you probably did the right thing.
It happpens a lot on here, that when you say something that people don't like, they start to accuse your motives, rather than question whether you might be right.
Cynicism is healthy, but people need to question objectively whether the poster is right and they just might be wrong, rather than attack the messenger.

For the record I don't work in sales, and the s/w company I work for sells to organisations and not individuals, so I have no vested interest in convincing anyone of anything.
