I have been reading posts about Autoaid and checked their website too. £37 per annum for the services they are offering is very cheap really. I am with AA at the moment but my renewal date is next week. I am thinking of going to Autoaid but the only thing that I am not sure is that Autoaid has limited the Home start to £65 on callout and labour. This means that i have to pay ou of my pocket in case the charges for callout exceed that (I assume it will be substantial amount for home callouts).

    Can you advise urgently?

Home start is literally that, get you started so it is usually just a jump start etc. Any big problems you will have to get sorted at a garage. The callout price will be no more than attending to you at the roadside, probably less because there is a fair chance you will be in a town.

Call a local breakdown company and ask them what a call out and homestart will cost.

Save the difference between AA cover cost and Autoaid and use this should you need a homestart during the next twelve months.

As molerat says a true homestart usually takes minutes to sort out. If you need moving to a garage you can claim all the charges back.

I think it's set at a reasonable level to prevent abuse. I got started at home last year, a guy came out in a flat bed and travelled about 10 mile across north London to get to me. The charge was £45 including VAT which was promptly refunded once I got the official invoice in.

If you don't like the Ts&Cs of AutoAid (like pay n claim or the £65 limit), then it would be sensible to get a differenct policy.
But for people who can tolerate this, it's a real bargain.
But I receommend people who don't like it to go elsewhere.

My folks are not with AutoAid.
They are in their 80s and can't see, hear, write too well, so they would have trouble filling in the form and would have to wait until someone could help.
Hence I have put them with someone else.

    It's not suitable for everyone.

You could use Autonational Rescue, which I believe is a sister company, (and cheaper than the big boys), but without the pay and claim, with 2 cover levels, Basic Service, (then add what you want), and Total Super Service, prices are £30. and £66. and it has a bonus scheme!

    Hi
Off to France in June and thinking of taking the European cover with AutoAid and was wondering if anyone could pass on any experience they have with them.

    Much Appreciated

This one looks like a good deal for everything its a shame they cover a car and not a person, anyone else had experience with them?

Am wondering if Auto Aid is still reckoned to be cheapest. Any ideas?
