  • Hope I am in the right area !!!
Just had a renewal notice from the AA for £177.63.
Been with them for 7 years and never used them (not tempting fate) !!!!

Just read about AutoAid for £36.00

Guess who I am now with -

This is a brilliant site, thank you very much.:j
  • Just signed up with AutoAid based on Martin's and other MSE's recommendations.
Dumped the AA after 15 years. Final straw; incredibly poor customer service and the ridiculous price! Nearly a hundred quid, and that didn't even include homestart!
    Feels good!

My AA cover finishes on the 10th November and they want £97.50 so I am not going to renew, is there a way to tell them not to renew your cover without having to phone up (email/online form)? I'm not sure I can be bothered with them telling me 'scare stories' to try and pursuade me to renew!

I am intending to join up with Auto Aid anyway, have tried to call this morning but no answer (maybe they don't man their office at 8.15 am).
    .....

  • i had to use autoaid twice in past month. getting receipts from recovery has been a problem though. any way round this? very frustrating

i was never able to get the receipts despite repeated calls to the respective companies. autoaid paid out anyway to the tune of £180. woohooo!:T

    i am happy to renew
QUIDCO £2827 paid out since October 2007:D

Britannia Rescue Renewal: £73.95 and, if I wanted to add Xtend Parts & Labour Cover I could pay only £45 per vehicle per year. Wow.

I've just signed up to AutoAid, £36.

Had to call Autoaid last night.

They sent a recovery guy in half an hour and had fixed the car before the kettle had boiled.

I was expecting him to ask for money but he siad his firm invoice my firm???

    Is this usual?

I'm currently with the AA but don't want to renew due to extreme price, however I do have a question and would be grateful if anyone can help. I'm profoundly deaf and if I'm driving alone when a breakdown happens I have to be able to contact services by text message. The AA have a text line for this purpose, from experience it isn't great but its better than not being to contact them at all. Does anyone know if autoaid have a similar set up?
I can't rely on taking out a policy in the hope that I have a passenger with me when I breakdown! In the past I've been known to text family with all my details and get them to call it in but that causes problems when they ask questions and family don't know the answers.
I really don't want to have to keep paying over the odds for call out service but can't afford to get stranded without help either. There is nothing on the site about a text service but I'm hopig someone out there may be able to help.

I would like to join but woulds be grateful if somebody could clarify the following:

Is it £36 per person or would this be for me and my wife.

We have a car each would this cover both of our cars for this price.

    Many thanks

They don't ask for car details and the terms say that if you or your legal spouse are driving then they cover you.

I have just copied the documents and put them in my wife's car just in case.
