He was BS'ing you. My claims have been paid virtually instantly and in full, including recovery around 150 miles when a car was written off in an accident.0

Auto aid covers a married couple (or civil partnership) in any vehicle (of the type covered).
It won't cover cohabiting couples.
Old fashioned I know, but that's their policy.0 -

I've subscribed to Autoaid for 4 years now & only really took it out should we be away in the caravan when we have an 'incident'. It appears to be one of the few that covers a towed vehicle as well as the towing vehicle. However, we've just had our first claim - petrol in a diesel car, but not towing. Ironically the car was a company car & already covered by the AA, yet they wouldn't recover unless the garage was less than 10 miles away and my husband was 11.1 miles from the dealership. I wasn't sure if we were covered with Autoaid, rang them & they said they said we were. The claim form was settled within a week. Highly recommend & now wouldn't go anywhere else.
The only thing I would add is that we had to settle with this particular recovery firm car either in cash or by cheque. They didn't accept credit cards but that will change depending on which firm you use. (The driver did offer to go via a cashpoint in case other half didnt have the cash on him!)0 -
After reading all the good feedback, I signed up for Autoaid a while ago. The other day I made a call to them after what was admittedly a silly human error. The man on the phone was unbelievably rude and undermining.
I ended up calling over a family friend who is a mechanic to sort out the problem.
I'm surprised nobody else has pointed out the apparent conflict of interests. If you call AutoAid for a roadside repair/recovery even ONCE, they have pretty much made a loss on your custom already. As such, it is in their interest to avoid you requiring assistance.
Much better to just call out a local garage on your own, then send in the claim.0
