It certainly harmed their sales around here. This side of the water, there is limited places stocking it, the other side of the water, you can't get a copy for love nor money, and even if you could, nobody would be seen dead buying it. I read somewhere once, that readership on Merseyside dropped from 200,000+ to less than 20,000 and has never recovered to this day. That's a LOT of readers to lose.

People won't forgive them because people have morals and principles, and whilst most of the editorial staff has changed, the profiteers are still at the helm, and also, it took 22 years for anyone within Newscorp to grow the balls and apologise for what they wrote (James Murdoch only apologised in November 2011 iirc).

They say everyone on Merseyside knows at least someone who knows someone who died or was injured in the Hillsborough disaster, they actually pretty much mean it. That is why, no matter what colour your football shirt, and no matter who you are, the city and district stands united against the Sun and at memorial services. The slur on "scousers" was just the tip of the iceberg, the Sun were trying to profiteer out of peoples deaths. It's hard to explain the strength of emotion and hatred towards the Sun newspaper on Merseyside, without seeing it first hand.

Then why don't you provide ten examples - with evidence - from this mound of proof that you no doubt possess?

You may also wish to provide proof of your statement about me - or retract it. Of course if you don't do one of the above then we will have to assume that you are lying.;)

Lol...presumably you are a journalist, a journalist who works for the Sun, or just sponsored by the Sun!

without knowing all the facts idont think you can come to that conclusion

With the facts that we have that is the only conclusion that can be reached. No doubt we'll be reading all about the OP's father in the Sunday edition of the Sun.:D

    How exactly was that constructive?

I feel preparing the OP for the potentially inevitable legitimate actions that are about to happen is the best way forward. Rather than giving her false hope by referring her to the PCC. Especially when the reporter clearly acted ethically.

They took photographs without his permission and refused to delete them, they argued their way in to the home of a vulnerable older man (he would not be assertive enough to ask her to leave, he was NOT a willing subject), they have suggested strongly that they will be featuring him in an article and they have left him absolutely distraught, very distressed and in a state where I am concerned for his health given his history of anxiety and heart problems.

I think I have the right to be angry and want to make sure that nothing goes to press!

Sorry if this was not clear.
    Sounds like bullying to me.

Why would I need to be medically qualified to consider the objective facts as we know them and come to the logical conclusion?

There's no proof the reporter bullied him. She was invited in, conducted an interview (which the OP's father consented to) and she wasn't thrown out by the OP's mother - who was more than capable going on what the OP said. There's plenty of evidence to suggest that the OP's father has something to hide and is now worried about the potential consequences. But as I said - it's all hypothetical.
Journalists learn to ask weasel questions and can sound very plausible just to get the answers they want & get in to your house. So I have no sympathy with the large news paper groups. The OP's father seems to have more of a problem with a malicious person reporting him to DWP.

Do they? Where do they learn this? You obviously have insider knowledge, so why not share?

Good God! Jessica Fletcher's alive and well!

How did you come to that conclusion out of interest? You're completely wrong obviously.
