Hmmm, I'm almost sure they said that about the death penalty too.0 -

And how cheap is life these days? Robbery and murder seem to carry similar prison tariffs.0 -
To get the mobility component of Disability Living Allowance, your disability must be severe enough for you to have any of the following walking difficulties:
- because of a physical disability, you are unable or virtually unable to walk without severe discomfort, or at risk of endangering your life or causing deterioration in your health by making the effort to walk
- you have no feet or legs
- you are assessed to be both 100 per cent disabled because of loss of eyesight and not less than 80 per cent disabled because of deafness
- you are severely mentally impaired with severe behavioural problems
- you need guidance or supervision most of the time from another person when walking out of doors in unfamiliar places
- you are certified as severely sight impaired by a consultant ophthalmologist

Also, this from the guidance notes for DLA:How far you can walk is not relevant, the point is that medically you should not walk very far because of the effect of the effort of walking on your life or health.poppy100 -
If daddy is able to play bowls regularly for fun, I don't think he would qualify for the mobility part of DLA. I assume he hasn't been claiming for this? If not then I wouldn't worry, The Sun won't have anything to write about.
The best one I know, is a guy who was in the RFA, then retired, got a job as a security guard, claimed DLA and has a motability car because he had a bad hip, had a hip-replacement, and now has an indefinite award.
The most interesting thing about this person, is he works 6/7 nights per week, 12 hour shifts, as a security guard, and one of his main responsibilities is doing walk-rounds of the site, and obviously chasing trespassers etc...
I've never to this day got my head around the fact he can pass an SIA license every 3 years, and regularly visit the gym on advice from his doctor (he goes 3 times per week) and yet he can claim DLA with the mobility element.
The system stinks through and through!!0
