Virgin Media price hike letter today - who else got one?

Likewise, I've got M broadband and XL phone. My letter said "your bundle charges will increase by £2.70 a month."
They've already changed my M broadband to L, as M is no longer offered. I didn't ask for it and it's still 10Mbps, they just decided to charge me an extra £4.50 a month from when an engineer replaced their modem, which had failed. When I complained, they agreed to credit me £4.50 a month as they can't put me back onto M, since it no longer exists!
Anyone get only broadband from them and is facing an increase?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Well the price-hike gave everyone an "out" if it's not taken, there is little to complain about really.0

Agreed.
It's just annoying that they overcharge for their telephone service when they are one of the few broadband companies who deliver the speed they claim to offer, over cable at least.
If I could get a free line installation for just telephone, I'd only use VM for broadband.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. You can.
Post Office are doing free line installation for orders until 31st March. And that's more is there is now minimum term contract. Just £12.50 a month rolling.
That's who i've gone with, as my VM broadband was not high enough quality. The speed was there, but the pings and jitter wan't good enough for the amount of HD streaming i do,0 -

Absolutely.
I for one called them straight away and downgraded my packages so I'm paying about £15 less per month now than I was (pre hike). I'm sure I'm not the only one.
I don't really want to leave them, but I certainly don't want to see my prices go up either."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Telephone line and broadband (Post office/Xilo) is still going to be cheaper than my VM 50mb package and i won't be tied down to a contarct.
Will tied me over until mid-summer when BT do FTTC in Norwich.0 -
I'm looking closely at Post Office telephone rates. Must admit I like the VM talk unlimited phone service, even though it doesn't include 0845 numbers unless you pay extra. Post office doesn't offer an anytime service, not even for a fee.
VM bills don't show how many free calls you've made within your bundle, so it's very difficult to compare.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. chalk + cheese.
They are not comparable, especially as you were a 50mb customer.
I am still a 50mb customer, and I get 50mb steady...it just if you are willing to pay for it...0 -
Raw throughput is useless on It's own. The quality of the connection is the most important aspect if you like to do things like stream media, play online games, make VoIP call etc..
Pingtest.net will give you a rough estimation, setting up think broadband ping monitor is probably better. I've never seen a vm graph as steady as a good ADSL connection, and its terrible compared to by infinity.0
