I called to complain when they did this - they said that they'd trialled the new billing display and 87% of their customers said they preferred it.

I don't believe it for one minute.
I think it's a scam (bundle pricing) to hide individual prices & make it more difficult for people to compare with each other.

You could predict something like price increases, once Branson appeared on Tv saying broadband speeds were being doubled to create pr smokescreen.

I don't need my speed doubled, 10MB/s is ok for me.

It's annoying with all living costs going up, to pay for something I don't really need like speed increase.

My package price has steadily risen in last few years.

Try Post Office (telephone and/or broadband). If you are accepted by the end of March, you will get a £50 discount over two bills (telephone or/and broadband). Also, unlike Virgin - who will steal your 'phone number - under contract -the Post Office won't!! Also, a thought for you, if you and your friends become Post Office users then there is no charge for calls between friends!!

Mine is going up by £2.25 on 1st April

I emailed them over a week ago but got know response.

Called them today, and they are happy (because the law forces them) to cancel my contract on 5th April.

Incidentally, my upload speed has now dropped from 5Mbs to 1Mbs. lol

I'm not defending Virgin here , but just about everything has gone up in price .. that's life I'm afraid!

All you can do is juggle things a bit to fit ..

Unfortunately my wages have not gone up:o

I think its shady they way its done, mid contract, i really do believe virgin should honour the price of contract, then when it ends.... bang on the 55% price rise!....is that too much to ask?

Luckily for me the price rise comes into effect just as my current 12 month contract comes to and end so I'll be moving my phone and broadband.

Funnily enough just after getting the letter about the cost increase Virgin also just called me to say that they're upgrading my broadband speed, want to give me a TiVO box and M+ tv package and all this for only £43 pm. The caller seemed most put out when I told her I didn't want it.

Hmm, if you trade up to a bigger package, then the NEXT mid contract surprise price rise will be a percentage on top of the bigger package price.
  • I sent a message to a VM rep who said the price rise doesn't affect broadband and anyone who is affected will get a letter.

I have VM broadband and phone M, rise was £3.50.
So what is meant by "the rise does not affect broadband"?
