    Hey Pap,
What i do is wrap the present in plain A4 paper i use for printing and then decorate it myself with felt pens etc. suppose it depends how big the gift is tho.

You could colour in the pictures on an old newspaper to make it look pretty and wrap it in that!!

Or any kitchen roll to hand

Or any old wrapping paper you have lying around

Or .............. loo roll - pink might be nice :rotfl:

Wanted to join on Wednesday but computer went off - I don't know why - but I won't spend to fix it 'cos DS does that sort of thing when he visits.

I have not spent since tuesday until today - hair colour (budgeted for) & b'day present for DS. I was so pleased with myself cos didn't buy anything for myself in Next or TK Max when I was looking for his prezzie.

May have to spend in a few weeks time 'cos hairdresser has invited me to his civil partnership reception!!! Can manage with clothes & there is a bottle of bubbly in the cupboard that I think will surfice for a prezzie, but I guess we will have to pay for drinks on the night. Anyway that's 4 weeks away so I will put my thinking cap on.

I have been keeping to my personal challenge since Christmas which is not to buy any make-up or toiletries until I have used every thing up in the house. Yesterday I finished 1 of the 9 shower gels in the bathroom & was so excited that I could start a new one today!! I had even been trying to wash more often so that I could use them up quicker - how sad is that!!

Anyway, plan for tomorrow is to be busy cleaning so that if OH wants papers he gets them himself. Out to friends pm (got a spare bottle already to take)
so no need to spend. Sunday at home with purse firmly shut!!!

Glossy magazines are good too, again depends on the size of the parcel, and the person it's going to. Some people appreciate homemade 'Kerry Katona's booze and drugs shame' wrapping paper more than others.

  • Another good day for me. I resisted buying chocolate at work. Went to homebase at lunch to check out if they stocked the stuff I need to do the garden (thus avoiding anywhere that sold anything edible) and they do, so I'll buy that when I'm ready to actually use it which I don't think is this weekend as the forecast says rain !!

I have to admit we went out for dinner tonight. It was already planned and budgeted for and was to celebrate my promotion. It's taken me a over 2 years to put my life back together after a breakdown and to get my career back to where it was as I had to really cut back as I wasn't mentally capable of it, so I was damm well going out to celebrate.

The weekend and the first half of next week are going to be hard for me. I need to go to the library tomorrow to return some books, maybe I should just take my library card and nothing else as atleast then I can't pop into the shops. Then next week I'm on a training course monday to wednesday so it's catching the train everyday into London, and I know I usually end up getting a drink, or some chocolate etc. We get given luncheon vouchers to spend for lunch each day, so I'm intending on keeping those and putting one of the breakfast baps in my bag that they have their in the morning and having that for lunch, worked last time I was there.

pap - I often use material to wrap presents in, I used to do a lot of sewing so I have quite a few scraps of fabric. Newspaper is also good, though only if the print isn't going to ruin the present inside.
    Debts: Mum £3923 0% APR
  • Good luck everyone.
    Will try this as well.
  • Spent today but on basics that were needed. And in the local shops not the Big Supermarkets.

I looked at the magazines & actually felt nothing. Sorry if that sounds bizarre, lol! But I am addicted to them, told DH this evening that I have given up magazines for Lent. He looked at me like I am bonkers, pmsl!!! He will certainly think I am mad on Sunday if he wants the Sunday Times & I ask him for £2 to cover it as I will not be buying. Its online anyway!
