nearly had to spend today after all! found out one of my friends got engaged last night so need to get them a gift! am currently clearing out my room to decorate it and came across a bottle of champagne my brother gave me for christmas i'd forgotten about and £20 John Lewis vouchers from Pigsback came today so i'm gonna give it to them (since we dont have a JL anyway). Phew panic over. Even made them a card myself! i cant break after only 4 days!
  • well if this is anything to sper me on... i have worked out i will have £210.00 extra in my bank to throw either into savings/onto debts and halfway through this challenge (march's payday) i will be payed... so if i can keep this up untill the 13th of april, aprils payday then i would have spent nothing till my holiday... then i will be prob £400+ up... i have to do this :D
  • DD has lost her tooth today though, so need to give tooth fairy £1 tonite, so unavoidable expense I'm afraid - or can that be counted as a necessity?

But that is not YOUR money - it is the Tooth Fairy's money. Two entirely separate people so not included in YOUR challenge, obviously.....

Thanks hypno you are absolutely right - not my money :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

So my signature is right and I haven't cheated

:T No spend at all so far and methinks that has something to do with the fact that I'm not well and neither is DH or DS now. All of us have a tummybug so we definitely don't feel like going anywhere :rotfl:

    Right people!

Cor blimey lots of posts since I was last around.

Welcome to the newbies to the challenge, providing you understand what we're all trying to do here, and you've had no spend days (or if you have spent it has been necessity spending) since wednesday.

The aim of the game, as PAP has pointed out is to actually curb your spending habits, find ways around spending Like TurnAroundSue with the library, and just basically not spending money on the rubbish that seems to suck all your money away.

I know it's very hard when you see things and want them. I was tempted yesterday I will admit, and I even had the money budgetted for a new kettle (house move etc) but I resolved that the one I have will do for now..... so it's possible even when its budgetted money to curb that spending too....

It wasnt totally necessary, but I had planned to spend on it. Maybe this challenge is more ingrained in me than I previously thought.
Plus I've had my payslip with my first months wage for 4 months being totally on the mark (overtime and payrises etc) and its less than I thought it would be, which now means my budget for when I move is going to be even tighter.

My need for making a thorough impact on this challenge is even greater!

Today was another no spender for me. BF bought food last night so that saved me some dosh, I've got my dinner in the oven now, and I'm going to be packing for this evening and tomorrow.

To all those off out tomorrow, take a bottle if you can, and try to say No lol. I know it's not easy and it's not always fun either, but think of where all that money you used to spend on taxis, magazines etc could go?!

Well, the end of another day and no money spent :j

Tomorrow should be quite easy as we have nothing planned other than housework and ebaying!!! (selling, obviously - not buying!!)

Not sure how easy it will be to keep going but the family are quite getting into this so we shall see....

Have a good day tomorrow everyone x

No spend for me today (apart from son's trainers and daughter's embroidery club, which I'm not counting for this challenge).

Also, and this is a bit spooky, I bought a round of ice-creams and actually made a profit! The kiosk girl made a keying error on the till and charged me £2.40 for ice-creams that should have cost £5.40. I did ask twice if that was right, and she just looked at the till and confirmed it was. As my mum had given me £2.50 'towards' the ice-creams I am 10p up on that transaction.

The challenge gods must be smiling on me. Long may they smile on all of us.
