    Hi Mrs M
I realised last year that I bought magazines when I was down & not feeling good about myself. At hairdressers today (yep I had budgeted for it) & got stuck in the back room reading them. After stealing a couple of money offer vouchers from them I got so bored!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hadn't budgeted for the tip but found 73p in coat pocket for shampoist(!?)

Anyway we are much more interesting than any magazine on offer.

Unless you are really into "my partner had **x with my pet elephant" or how to make over your sunroom for under ££33,678 and if so I could tell you (lol)!

So Mrs M not so bonkers .. keep up the good work!

  • I think this is a fantastic idea. At the beginning of the week I had already made a decision to stop spending unnecessarily so this idea has spurred me on even more!

Until I read some of the threads on this site I thought I had a huge problem with debt but really it really isn't too bad. However, the only way I can achieve a debt free status is by not spending unnecessarily!

I am planning to retire in just over 3 years and hope to be debt free before then.

I have alreaedy saved £10 this week by taking my lunch to work instead of buying it and not eating chocolate in between!

I have also saved money by not "lending" my son money on demand and then not getting it back!

I have not done any serious shopping for food this week because I am using up everything in the cupboards and freezer first!

With a bit of luck I will lose weight as well.
  • My first success of the day, went to the library with nothing but my library card so I couldn't pop in any shops. And.... they had the money diet book in, so took that out.

TurnaroundSue I hope we don't use the same library.

I'm going to see my sister on tuesday as she lives in London and see the new baby. Now I have the problem of do I get a card to take, or not. I have the cards from when I was born and so does my sister, so there's a good chance that my sister will keep all the congrats cards. I really want to do a photo one, but I don't have any of things I have for photo ideas I have. I'm thinking I might wait until I go up there and then I can take some photos. I still need to take a photo to use for mothers day card, though for that I can use one of the flower ones I took last year, so it's not so much of a problem.

Hope everyone else is doing good with challenge.

TY for saying I am not bonkers!

Agree with your post. My hair is budgetted for towards the end of March, inl tips.

No money should be spent today.

  • Hi ShirelyPark - I think we could use the same library yer know as when I went today to get our The Money Diet book, guess what? it was already out  But not to worry as the lovely librarian has ordered me a copy from another library and she said it should be in soon :j

Anyway, went to the local produce market which is held 3rd Saturday every month and bought my veg for tomorrow's dinner (budgeted for, so no spend there), nearly bought hand made card's for mothers' day, but decided not to as I have loads of stuff indoors and can make my own (save £3.70). Was going to buy homemade chutney and jams (3 for £7) and a gift bag for £2 for my MIL, but decided against it and will have to try and get my thinking cap on for something cheaper instead - saving £9.

DD has lost her tooth today though, so need to give tooth fairy £1 tonite, so unavoidable expense I'm afraid - or can that be counted as a necessity?

No other spends expected so (near enough) another NSD.

Keep up the good work peeps :D

Nowt spent today. Took my neigbhour round our wee shops and two of the post offices and for once resisted spending money on stuff i just dont need. She gave me £6 for petrol as well woohoo! need to add it to my olympic challenge total now. I wonder if this will seem as easy on day 20?!
  • No money spent today for me, too, won't spend any tomorow either, but won't update signature tomorrow, as Sundays don't count towards the 40 days of lent.

But that is not YOUR money - it is the Tooth Fairy's money. Two entirely separate people so not included in YOUR challenge, obviously.....

WEll done everyone - I've had a NSD too.
Kept very busy cleaning & did grocery shop a the local co-op which is situated on its own so no temptation to go into more interesting places. Just shopped off list and kept within bidget thanks to dividend vouchers.

Tomorrow will be tricky as BF wants to go to the Factory Shops - I think I may have to forget my purse (accidently on purpose).

Off out tonight to friends - do hope they don't suggest the pub - guess I must forget the purse tonight too!!
