Giving up Money for Lent

Well folks I seemed to have sucummbed albeit in advertently!! As posted, night out with friends and as guessed to pub later.. They were having a veg box draw ( that sounds so up market as we were born & bred on Meat Raffles) anywaya pound a shot to take part.. DH was goping to buy a ticket but didn't have change & I 'found' 45p in my bag!!!
I could count it as a Sunday spend, but I had agreed with myself to keep no spends going through Sundays as knowing me I could spoend a months worth in one day!
The 45p doesn't worry so much as the thought of having to go back to pub tomorrow in case we won!!
PS excuse spelling as we had wine & beer when out!!0 -

Pippo, how come someone can come along and spam a forum? I am currently subscribed to a few forums at the mo and this person has put spam on 2 of them - can't Martin throw them off the site and what does this person gain from spamming? When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0 -
Hi Sue, I dan't know - I would think we should all be too aware to fall for anything but like you I don't see the point! I think they can be thrown off - I hope so.0

Roll up Roll up!
Sunday is upon us....... so whose going to be continuing through sundays, and whose gonna keep to the letter?
I'm going to be sticking to the letter. I've realised I've got so much packing left to do, it's suddenly got quite scary!!!!
Hope everyone has a good day xxWealth is not measured by currency0 -
I'm keeping to the letter also and count me in for Sundays also - don't you just love this?:pWhen you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0

oooooh I didn't release sundays were excluded !! In which case I shall go and see if I can find a congrats on the birth of your son card for my sister. If I get one today I can take it to her on tuesday when I see her, thus saving the postage. We have a card shop that does really nice cards for about 30p, which isn't that much more than the price of a stamp. Now I just hope they are open on sundays.Debts: Mum £3923 0% APR0

Morning!
Am gonna stick to it as well. Nothing is open on a Sunday here except for the churches so have no temptation to spend unless i do online but due to lack of money i wont!0 -
Only jsut read this thread as have had almost no time online this week. Wed - Fri were NSD for me and yesterday I spent only on groceries for the week (no toiletries) and postage for eBay parcels (which are already paid for by the buyer).
I've got a 50th birthday and of course Mother's Day coming up but I have some vouchers from Pigsback plus some M&S vouchers I get from using my credit card for petrol so will use these for presents and of course the challenge will be not to spend anything on myself at the same time. Just to make it more of a challenge I am going to ban using vouchers for personal goodies - after all if I use them for myself I can't use them for presents (and I've just remembered Easter Eggs for all the children in the family - will use my Boots advantage points for these).
PAP - thanks for mentioning stitching a mother's day card - if I start now I can do this.0 -
A sort of success on the card front. The really cheap shop was closed
Had a look in Woolies, but cards were over 1 pound and I'd only taken a single 1 pound coin with me, so left there. Popped in Wilkinsons and found a really nice one for 89p. Standing in the queue I was looking at things like BOGOF on bottles of pepsi max etc and thinking normally I'd get that, and maybe some chocolate for me and the BF. But today I kept thinking, martin says no !!
Made some flapjack yesterday to take to London with me next week, so I won't be tempted to buy anything at the train station.Debts: Mum £3923 0% APR0
