Doh! sorry to say I've really blown it. I've just spent £38 on theatre tickets!

This is to take my mum and my youngest daughter to see a local production of Hot Mikado - a friend is starring in it, my mum really wanted to go but all her March money is spoken for. She often treats me so I felt obliged to offer on this occasion.

One bit of damage limitation - I picked a day when my older daughters are busy or they would have had to come too.

CAFCgirl, I know I'm turning out to be a flakey challengee. I will quite understand if you boot me off (but hope you don't). Hope the moving is going well.

Welcome to FOS, on joining the challenge and well done to all those who have decided to keep to the letter with sunday spendings.

My packing appears to have hit a dead end :( mainly through lack of boxes!
However darling bf has come to the recue and dropped off £20 so that I can buy some of those folding plastic crates. Normally I would go sniffing round shops etc asking for cardboard but hardly anywhere has any since they all put their retail rubbish out on a friday night (after deliveries) since saturday it gets collected.

I only know all that because I work in retail, I'm not a sad anorak or anything :)

I'll be nipping out in a bit when i can navigate my way around all the boxes littering my flat............
This is the time when you think.. hmmmmmmm maybe i should stay where I am :)

Woah woah woah! Hold up! I'm drowning in cardboard boxes. I was round your way yesterday with the ex too dammit, wish I'd read this sooner. Still, if you need some more and your bf can drive you round (or am I imagining that he has a car? ) you can have as many as you need (unless you need hundreds that is :rotfl: ). Even £4 on the bus is better than £20  !! on plastic nonsense.

Oh, and I currently have 10 assorted half packed boxes stacked around my room. I'm not getting very far :o:o

    Hiya
I had an eventful but free weekend. We were taking the children bowling yesterday but we'd changed Mr T vouchers into deal vouchers so were getting it free. Anyway, we got there and all the lanes were booked for the next two hours so we agreed to take them back next Sunday. Today, at school, they've been invited to a bowling party for next Sunday so I can save the vouchers for something else. Yeahhhhhh!!!!! I've already got a suitable present for the party as i'm recyling something mine were given. No spend today too so pleased with myself. I'm sticking to Sunday's too so I can complete my 40 days before I go away.

    Well done all of us,
I had a totally spend free day today, Managed a sharp exit after this mornings meeting.:j
I confessed to my colleagues that my lent challenge was 'giving up spending'
They don't seem to understand!!!! One is giving up salt (?) and another chocolate. For me no spend means no chocolate. ( or perfume or Anything really)

Old friend e-mailed me last night to ask me to play badminton. I do need to go for health & fitness reasons but I'm so stuck with no spoend challenge I'm not sure if I should.

I did cancel £35 per month gym subscription last week which was in my budget so if I take up the shuttlecock challenge will you allow me this as a no spend?? It will cost £3.15 & I promnise not to go to the bar afterwards.

You touched a chord there re empty bottles - our gym -= which I subscribed to until last week charged at least £1.20 for a bottle of water so I never threw a empty bottle outt (even though I didn't go for 4 months). I decide to "stuff that" last week (due to MS Ethics) and threw them out now I need one duie to badminton invitation!!
  • Still no spend here, well done everyone

    Sorry peeps!

So many messages so little time.
I'm back at former flat (well I'm in a cross-over period). Got lots of boxes taken over in BF's corsa (surprised how much you can fit in one of those!)

Peaches - Thanks for the offer hun, but I've got a cunning plan, I'm going to use them all and then take them all back! LOL I do feel slightly mean, but then again I dont, hardly used, it's only for taking stuff from one place to the next!

Also had a very strange experience whilst working home from new flat. Met former colleague and her mum. Her mum was walking into town to ake back this assorted multi-pack of tupperware because she's decided she doesnt need the small ones, and bought some singular larger ones.

Anyway to cut a long story short I said "oh yeah I need to get some tupperware for freezing meals etc" so she offered me hers! She'd lost the receipt so was only going to get an exchange! I couldnt just take them off her so I swapped it for a £5 voucher I had in my purse for Tesco LOL!!!

Crazy things that happen in the street, to the untrained eye we probably looked like we were dealing drugs or something, but oh no, it was TUPPERWARE!

So technically didnt spend any money as voucher/card type thing was a "thanks for your feedback" pressie from Mr Tesco himself!!!

Pippo- I've decided badminton can pass through the net. If the gym membership was previously budgetted for, you knew you were going to be spending it so I dont see too much of a problem with that.

Hmmmmmmmm now Seaxyn...... do you have an entertainment budget or a gift budget. You could possibly pass this off as Mothers Day present..... only if you have a gift budget though.......?

Another no spend day for me, considering everything is in boxes, I must admit to conjouring up some pretty interesting meals from the cupboards which haven't been boxed yet.

Day off from moving things tomorrow, more boxing up in previous flat, bubble wrapping delicate items etc, and having a little me time, had a cold last week and it's not shifting! So feeling a little bit sorry for myself but am desperate to remain strong and not spend!!!

Got through yesterday with difficulty but did manage.

A friend was in need of help and some looking after following very emotional and difficult day so I did use some of my grocery money to get chocolate cake to take round. However, knowing of my financial predicament, she gave me the money for it!!!!

Then had to do ASDA (I hate that place!!) but went armed with meal plan and shopping list. I didn't buy anything "off list" and was really careful buying reduced and own brand, but still ended up spending £55. I was really disappointed because I still felt as though I had scrimped and saved all the way round but ended up with a hefty bill at the checkout! I did check my receipt afterwards to make sure that -

    a) I had been charged correctly for all the reduced stuff
    b) I had not put stuff into my trolley that I conveniently "forgot" the moneysaving thing about (not good english, but you will know what I mean!)

But, it was all correct, so I just have to try harder next week. But I do promise that there was nothing extravagant, or unnecessary in there - no nice shampoo, no nice coffee, no biscuits, no nothing!

So, essentially a NSD for lent challenge purposes but a difficult one!
