Would like to welcome the new additions, Shirley and TurnAroundSue. Greta to hear you've managed the first two days without even realising it. I'm sure as time goes on it will seem a little more difficult but thats why we're all here.
I think the 3 Point Action Plan is fanastic.
And now for when this challenge is over.........
I would like to offer a prize to all of us when Lent is up. I have great faith that we will all get there!!!
Chocolate............. oh no.....

Hello!
Please can I join. My personal Lent challenge is NO MAGAZINES. They are my addiction. I think I buy them out of habit. I almost get a little panic when I see a new one out that I don't already have. Bought none so far during Lent! Have sweaty palms though
Also avoid the big supermarkets. Went to Londis the other day cos that is local, small & a franchise. Baked bread rolls yesterday to save me going to the shop.
I shall also not buy anything for myself that I do not absolutly have to have.

Morning Mrs MH,
The challenge itself is actually to give up all forms of spending aside from food, travel if necessary, bills, mortgage/rent etc.
Good start with the magazines though. A lot of the time we trick ourselves into think we have to have a number of things, but they're normally filling some void in our lives, or stavving off the boredom and humdrum of normal life.
If you think you can manage giving up buying everything unnecessary and luxury, then welcome to the challenge, providing you've had two no spenders previously.... lent started on wednesday
I hope non of that came out as harsh but the challenge is really to push ourselves to address why we feel the need to spend so much money on very little....
Good Luck :TWealth is not measured by currency0 -
CAFC, ty!
Not a problem. No spend month for me. I do need it TBH & I will survive. I don't "need" anything At All for myself. My kids (have 2) may need thing, but I budget per month for stuff for them, like new trousers for DS who goes through them at an alarming rate! No matter the quality so he gets cheap ones now.
I have only bought coffee & milk since Lent began as I was doing the supermarket challence myself anyway.
I am serious about this

Has everyone seen this challenge on the OS board as well? You could combine the two..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
"We were born and raised in a summer haze." Adele 'Someone like you.'
"Blowing your mind, 'cause you know what you'll find, when you're looking for things in the sky." OMD 'Julia's Song'0 -

So I'm hoping to do better next month by avoiding the supermarkets and by not spending any money on any extras.

We all seem to be doing very well, don't we?
I had no spends for the first 2 days.I bought a few items of grocery shopping at lunchtime today and I am sorry to say I did buy a bunch of daffodils too, which I didn't strictly need, but they were on offer and the last bunch lasted nearly 10 days and they were bright and cheerful on a dreary day, sorry,it won't happen again lol.
Mrs MH,I haven't bought any magazines for ages.My hairdresser always has all the latest glossies and so I read them in there when I am having my colour done.0
