If you do get charged ShirleyPark complain hugely as you've had no trouble in previous months and the slow bacs ect has been widely publicised or complained about this month you should either not get charged or get it refunded.

Glad everyone enjoyed their partying even if they had sore heads after :rotfl:

By the way no spend for me today.

  • Oh if I get charged all hell will break lose, especially as both bank accounts and the mortgage are effectively with the same company. They've done this to us before, really we should move the mortgage so it comes out on the 3rd rather than the first which would make life easier.

I'm currently dying my hair the free way. My BF was re-bleaching his hair and had half the bleach left, so I've stolen the rest of it to bleach my roots. I already have several lots of various shades of red dye in the cupboard, so it's costing me a grand total of £0. I can't get the dye I like down here so when I was in London last I bought several pots of the stuff.

  • I was in two minds about doing my hair, and then I thought if I don't do it today then it'll cost me £4.50 in bleach, or do it today and it'll cost my nothing !! No brainer really.

grrrrrr not happy with standing orders and direct debits. I have a standing order to go from my account to the joint account on the 1st of every month, and the mortgage goes out of the joint account on the 1st of every month.

Last month, my money going in was the first transaction on the 1st, this month my money going in was the last transaction, so in order to pay the mortgage it says our account went overdrawn !!! Not impressed. I'll be even less impressed if we get charged bank charges for it.

ShirleyPark, so long as all the transactions are completed on the same day and your account is okay at the end of day balance then it doesn't matter. It might look on your statement that you went overdrawn as each transaction went through, but it is the end of day balance that matters, so there should not be any charge. Hope this helps.

NSD for me either, mind you had the day off yesterday and went to look for a new door bell as we are having new windows and the window bloke said he would fit it if we supplied it, (was in my budget so doesn't count as a spend)so off we toddles to the shop and my DH and DD spent money  I tried not to but they insist that this is my challenge and not theirs. However, even though the Cadbury's Boost was winking at me from the baskets by the till, I turned my back on it and didn't succumb - but, boy, was it hard :rotfl:

Working full day today so nsd here - only 4 days to go !!!!!:j
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:

Thanks. I checked the account online this morning and it looks like they haven't charged us anything. I might still see about moving the day just incase at some point they decide not to put it through because it would take us overdrawn, alternatively I could just up the overdraft limit on that account, so atleast it would cover the mortgage.

Who else is counting down the days until Easter ?

    HI folks

I haven't posted for a few days as I've been really depressed about all things money-related. I haven't spent on anything unnecessary though - just watchign the money fly out of my account on things like food and debt repayments.

Last night I was due to go out to dinner with two friends - it was justified as they do put well paid work my way - however I really couldnt afford it. So I had a brainwave and suggested we went to the pub instead. So I spent £4.20 on three halfs of beer instead of £££ at a restaurant - and had a really enjoyable evening.

So feel a little bit better now

    Well done you!

Sorry to hear you've been feeling a bit pants. Wanna talk about it?

I've just witnessed my account fall to £50 within overdraft limit and thats with everything paid for, (barring any nasty surprises!) and I half feel a bit bleurgh......... about it.

But just think of how you'll feel when it's all done, and when you can go out on a whim for dinner and not have to worry so much about the money! Thats what I'm looking forward to, that and a nice big fat holiday for me and the BF!

I have been food shopping today and so have increased overdraft further but it was a rare chance to get to Aldi and butchers. I was very good and did not buy anything except food and drink. I am hoping to keep away from all shops now until well after Easter. We can't afford any splurges at all. Last night DH and I were talking about having another cheap holiday at home this year. All our holiday money went on last lot of car repairs in February. Friends have suggested we just turn up heating and pretend we are somewhere warm!!
