Good, you can keep us on the straight and narrow :rotfl:

Hi CAFCGirl's mum, your daughter only wants a 19p conditioner for her birthday - bargain :rotfl: :rotfl:

lol if only- so I'll take your present back then.
    :rotfl:
Seriously i have some of those freebie conditioner sachets in the cupboard, which we unashamedly picked up when discarded by others to increase our own supply, which you can have.

Still sticks to the spirit of the challenge, they didn't cost me anything.
Can't have the other participants thinking that "mumps" bails you out just 'cos she reads the thread.:D
Are those shopping bags you're carrying really bags of debt???

As a matter of interest are all the participants in the challenge female? It's not always easy to tell with the signin names.

So cafcfan is CAFCgirl's mum. Is that right? I've had two glasses of wine in quick succession so may be getting confused.

By the way..... OH bought the wine - out of the grocery budget.

cafcfan - yes I'm female. I'm a mum too, and hope my daughters turn out as well as yours obviously have.

    Hi all, including CAFCgirl's mum!

CAFCgirl, :A I read your post this morning and didn't have time to reply but now I'm quite pleased I didn't. It has meant that I have thought about what you said and consider it.
It made me think about a time many years ago when I worked as a researcher for the government and carried out family finance surveys. We were given random lists of families who we asked to complete spending diaries and the results were used for average spending stats and also as a base line for setting benefit levels. (hope I am not contravening Offical Secrets Act with this!!)
Anyway I used to vist a family who were in dire straights even though the father worked (in a poorly paid job). They dutifully kept their diaries including the 2p spent on a 'one cup' sachet of coffee for my visit. They listed the items they bought for their children for Christmas which almost equalled what I spent on my son for stocking fillers and I had always thought I didn't spend much compared to friends, they were pleased with the things they had bought their children, but wished they could have spent more.

Sorry if I'm going on a bit, but what I really wanted to say is that this challenge has or should make us consider what we spend money on and what we really need. We can all justify things as essential and at times may fool ourselves, but it is all relative to our situation.

I had been going to post about having to spend 20p on blowing up car tyres after 3 foot pumps packed in, but that's for another day.:rotfl:

Anyway, I skipping threads now to find the muffin recipe (cos if I eat standing up the calories won't count!!)

    Pippo,

thanks for the thread hun. I wasn't trying to depress people, but lke you said, you realise how easy it is to trick ourselves into thinking we need something that really we only want...

I'm a great one for thinking that, and for also thinking that spending money will make me feel better etc.....

P.S Pippo, having your tyres pumped up fully is a necessity, by law.....
