    have you called them?

My hubby called AA and got our quote reduced to £71 from £120 ish. Worth a try. we still didn't renew as I thought it was too much - homestart and roadside only.

we are getting tesco - just waiting for the rental income to come in! lol

That reduction didn't sound too bad.
had you been with AA for a while? I'm just wondering if it's worth keeping loyalty with RAC for piece of mind.

Hello, please help I'm so daft! Never had any recovery policy but need one now as my car is playing up and haven't got enough money for a new one

I looked at auto aid and I'm ok with it i think.

but please do enlighten me what happens if a vehicle can't be repaired at the roadside? Would i be paying for the garage labour then?

    do they cover key damage?

    any other recommendations?

    thanks a lot

Hi, my husband's breakdown cover for his Transit is up for renewal but he also drives an Astravan and Tipper and wonders if he could get cover for all of these and any other vehicles he may drive ( we know that some companies won't cover the Tipper due to its weight). We'd also like cover for me and my car thrown in too, if possible! ( Not asking for much, I know:o)
    Thanks

  • I'd like to share my experience with the AA this week - last year my premium was £72.75, this year they wanted £103, an increase of over 41 percent. I tried to phone up and ask why several times, but got a fobbing off message of 'all of our operators are busy helping people in emergency'. Perhaps naively, I assumed that an organisation the size of the AA would have dedicated departments that deal with renewals rather than ALL staff answering breakdown calls. (If this is not the case, why do we have to select which service we require from an interminable list of options in the first place?) In the end I decided to cancel at the end of the year (23rd August) via email. I received a reply yesterday saying they had noted my wish to cancel and had cancelled with immediate effect. I replied straight away pointing out what I had stated in my original email - that I wished to cancel at the END of the year, and await their reply. I have found RescueMyCar are prepared to offer full EU cover, as well as home start (an extra 49.50 with the AA) and journey forward (an extra £38.00 with the AA) so all in all, I don't think the AA are particularly good value to existing members and offer no encouragemnt to stay with them.

I'm looking for a breakdown company that covers the car not the driver as our new run around is used by the whole family. Me amd my OH have our own cars and are both covered on a full AA contract but we have this new little car which we all share. Whilst me and OH would still be covered via the AA our three boys would not and looking for a policy that covers three named people on one car is tricky.

We've tried contacting the AA to see of we can bolt them on to our existing policy, but they are always too busy to take calls and we just get cut off and we are running out of patience now. We have even tried their call back service without any success which is a worrying sign.

  • Would appreciate clarification on two points.

    1) The main MSE article says "Spend Tesco Clubcard vouchers on goods or services listed in its Deals brochure and you get back four times their face value.".

However the Tesco Rewards brochure has two kinds of deals, one where you trade in your Clubcard vouchers for tokens worth 4 times the amount of the vouchers, and a second type called "buy in full" which is just using the vouchers at face value. The RAC deal is a "buy in full" deal, so you DON'T get four times the face value as the MSE article says!

I think the MSE article is misleading people into thinking it's a better deal than it is.

    2) I can't find any clarification as to whether they will honour the cashback if I am renewing (rather than taking out for the first time) my RAC membership. (I use Quidco).

    Any answers? Thanks in anticipation.
