I have had my claim upheld by barclaycard.

When I first put in the form, they replied saying they couldn't find an account for me. I checked on Noddle and found that it still had an account and they were marking it green every month. I phoned them and told them this and miraculously my account details were found.

Now as far as I was aware the account was closed after I got into some financial difficulty and agreed to a repayment plan with them, now this would have been in 2004/2005.

They then said that they would have to carry out a credit reference on me because I had changed my name since taking out the card in 1995 (got married).

This obviously was ok because I received an offer of 6.00 from them last week.

Now I know that I paid a lot of PPI during 1995 - 2005, but of course haven't paid any since because as far as I was aware I no longer had the account.

Spoken to them and they have told me that this is their offer, but did tell me that I had ppi from 1995 - 2014. They could also see that I had had a payment plan, but they couldn't see the value of this.

I have also got to send them a copy of my marriage cert to get the payment even though they have confirmed through credit reference I am who I say I am.

I don't think I have any paperwork relating to the account although I do know that the balance when the payment plan was put in place was £1500.

What should I do next ?? Or do I just give up ??

Ask them what figures they worked the redress out from.
Sadly, if you have no paperwork to prove actual PPI paid and nether do they, yo will have to accept the offer made.

This should make no difference to any claim that you make as they cannot be seen to be treating you unfairly.

Typically, you can only go back in the day if you have comprehensive documentation as well as valid (preferably verifiable) complaint reasons.
  • What's the average people have waited for payouts from natwest. They received my signed acceptance of offer form on Tuesday? Has anyone received there payouts before the 28 days stated
  • I've just found out that I have two different types on ppi on my barclaycard credit card that I opened in 2007. I didn't realise I had any, let alone two!! One fee appears to be annual and the other monthly. I've cancelled both today, but feel like I might be able to claim. I've contacted barclaycard by phone who have said they will be in touch.

My concern is I (foolishly and completely irresponsibly) didn't pay my bill for a couple of years, then paid the minimum payment for a couple more before paying it off in full in the middle of last year. I am now using the account properly to try and repair my credit score. Will these details affect my ppi claim chances?

It should not affect your chances, although they may reduce your credit limit later, others on this site have had this happen, they may not do this and you will only find out after the claim has been dealt with.
