if I had been asked about my circumstances when I applied PPI should probably not been an option as I was under notice of redundancy.
They weren't required to ask you whether you were under notice of redundancy in an online application, but it would have clearly stated in the insurance's terms and conditions that any redundancy you already knew about would not be covered.
This is not a mis-selling reason, I'm afraid.

Do you know for certain there was a pre-ticked box? If there wasn't, your complaint is very likely to be declined.

I really can't remember much about the application at all but it was during the time frame of 1999-2001 which I have been led to believe were the time of pre-ticked boxes. I applied for card 19/4/2001. I was in shock at the time about getting the redundancy notice so am also unlikely to remember much about that month. If I am unsuccessful at least I will have tried.

    Kind regards
  • I have had a current credit card, that I think I was Mis sold PPI on (it wasn't made obvious that it was optional & heavily implied that it was just the norm to take it)
If I make a complaint & it's rejected, will I just have the PPI cancelled, will the bank cancel my credit card as I wouldn't be able to afford to pay it off in full?
What evidence should I send with my PPI questionnaire? If I don't have anything wont they look at my compliant seriously?
I can't remember how I was sold PPI in much detail but just recall that I wasn't sure it was optional or not & that "everyone just has it" is that enough detail & was I mis sold?
Is it worth just attempting to reclaim it? What is the worse that can happen?
Can anyone please advise me on these specific queries as I'm not sure if I should go ahead with it?
Many thanks to you in advance for your help with this!

They dont cancel the card if your complaint fails.

Anything that backs up your allegation. Without anything, your complaint is weak and will be relying on luck.

    Nothing bad can happen

  • Hi there looking for some advice / help if possible please.

Took out a secured loan via a broker in 2004 for £15,000 over 120 months (10 years)
When we took out the load we were told by the broker that we had to take out a "Single Premium Payment Protection Insurance" of £2850 to obtain the loan, this would then be added to the loan amount so the total of the loan was £17,850.

The loan was originally with a company called Endeavour Personal Finance, got a letter in April that the loan had been sold to Moorgate Loan Servicing Limited.

Have rung both these companies to ask about possible miss selling of the PPI but they said that as the loan was taken out via a broker and that broker now appears to have been liquidated they couldn't help but gave me the number of the FSCS, (financial services compensation scheme).

Phoned them and the lady on the phone said they couldn't help as the loan was taken out over 5 years ago and there's nothing they can do.

Is this correct, is there nothing I can do to make a claim.

Many thanks for taking the time to read

    Regards

Your only option now is to try and complain to the underwriters of the insurance, but that is an incredibly slim chance, because they didn't sell it to you.

However, as it's your last chance, and it'll cost a stamp and maybe a phone call or two.

Thanks for this reply, what evidence should I be sending? I'm not sure what I even have from when I took the credit card out? Is saying I didn't realise it was optional & being told it is just the norm to have PPI a valid reason to complain, this is just what I remember from the meeting I had with bank when getting credit card, not sure what actual evidence I have to proof the conversation took place?
If I make a complaint & it's rejected what's the worse that can happen? Will they just cancel my PPI?
I've completed a payment protection insurance consumer questionnaire from the natwest website ( where I got my credit card 6 years ago) should I just send this off? Anyone had any success from natwest?

Sorry to ask so many questions but I'm just not sure if I put a complaint in, that ill get very far?
Thanks in advance for any advise!!
    Happy Friday one & all!

If you've already completed the form, all you can lose by sending it is the price of a stamp. If the Bank do decline your complaint then it's not automatic that your PPI will be cancelled-you'll need to request this separately.
