  • Hope this is the right place to post. I took out 4 loans between 2003-2007 with RBS and have only just found out I was sold PPI on all of them.
I was unemployed at the time ( stay a home Mum with young children) my OH worked full time and although we had a joint current account the loans were in my name alone.
I'm surprised they even gave me the loans- perhaps assumed that my OHs salary was mine?
In any case do I have a chance of a claim?

If you are surprised they sold you loans why did you keep asking for them?
If you weren't working at the itme then yes, you have a valid complaint.

No need for the techy reply.
  • My Husband and I took a new mortgage loan it was converted from a professional studies loan anyway we also "agreed" to ppi on this loan but it was definitely mis sold lots of reasons took out in 2006 and is ongoing. Wrote to HSBC Last June got a no! But didn't take to the financial ombudsman my question is is it too late? Have read we only had six months to claim after answer from HSBC ...surely not?

Yes, you have 6 months from the rejection letter to go to the FOS. They will only accept a really good reason for not doing so.

  • Thanks for the reply.....I guess not knowing there was a cut off is not a good enough reason....

It should have said clearly in your decision letter. Have you still got it? If you weren't advised about the time limit then this should be considered good enough reason. If you were and you've just not read it properly then you've got no chance I'm afraid.

    Hi,

Quick question, I was under notice of redundancy when I took out the egg credit card, does that mean the PPI was worthless as they would not pay out.

I applied during the time when it was a pre ticked box and in April I got notice I would be redundant in September, applied for card 19/4/2001.

Thanks for any help already received.

It wouldn't have paid for your redundancy as you knew it to be impending at the time you took out the card.

If you had subsequently found another job and then been ill or made redundant again you'd probably have been able to claim.

The "full and final" responses are pretty generic and those which decline the complaint all include details both of how to apply to FOS and the time limits which apply. The lenders are also required to include a copy of the FOS booklet which also outlines these details.

    Pretty much.

    .

    Thanks.
Put in my claim for mis-sell and never wanted the PPI in the first place, it was a pre-ticked box. Reason I asked is if I had been asked about my circumstances when I applied PPI should probably not been an option as I was under notice of redundancy.

    Does that make sense?
