PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

Hi, Just wondered what you thought of my latest predicament! Our PPI claim was rejected by the FOS after months of investigation. That was difficult to accept but we did (over £8000.00!) My partner lost his contract end of June this year (self employed) & was out of work for six weeks. At no time has the PPI policy been mentioned to us & they are now really putting pressure on us to make payments + arrears. Shoould the onus be on us to contact insurance or has the company failed in their work by not reffering us to them? Would this make a difference with the outcome of our case?
The onus is on you to claim on your insurance.
It has no impact on your case which is now closed.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

were you made redundant and then tried to claim on the insurance after the garden period had passed or did you lose your job through ill health that wasn't covered by your PPI?Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Just recieved a rejection letter re my Mothercare Card (1999 - 2001) from Santander. They state that it was a non-advised sale and I 'would have been made of the main terms of conditions ....' They go on to state that I have the info to make an informed choice and it could have been cancelled in the first 30 days. They have also included a copy of the credit agreement showing I signed for the PPI instore. However, the PPI element is signed using my maiden name, and the credit agreement in my married name! I had been married for over 3 years when I applied and dont believe that I would have signed in my maiden name
I was also definently not told anything about the ppi or I wouldnt have taken it out - only told of the discount I would recieve!
When I rang they say I can refer to underwriter Genworth Financial as it was before regulation by the FOS, or I can contact the FLA. Is it worth following up as I have no evidence to back up my complaint (I explained in my questionnaire I was a teacher with full employment benefits at the time).
Thanks for any advice!:)0 -
Hello
I had a large career development loan from the coop in the year 2000 it was about 6000 pounds. I dont know if there was ppi in there, what would be the best way to find this out? can I just call them up, or would I need to make a Data Protection Act request?
Thanks
ps apologies if posting in the wrong area, finding site a little confusing.0 -

Hi In the past I was very foolish and ashamed to say that I had 6 different credit cards totalling nearly 30k on their balances.I took a loan out and paid them off 2 yrs ago.My friend recently told me that she had made a claim to be reimbursed for ppi payments that had been charged to her through her credit cards.
I had no idea ppi was charged on these so I have recently contacted my cc companies and so far 3 of them have replied confirming that there was indeed ppi on each of them.I am written to register my complaint.
I know every case is different but on average how long do these institutions usually take to reimburse. Its just that with having taken the loan out to pay them off the monies would come in useful in lowering the amount I owe.
I did not need ppi as my partner earned good money and my employer paid for long term sickness if required.0 -
That does not necessarily mean the cover was missold.
If you simply ticked to apply for it without reading what you were applying for it would be a mispurchase - and the fault of the purchaser, not the seller.0 -

They don't 'reimburse', they consider your complaint and decide whether to uphold it or not. Then they will offer redress.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Please don't get me wrong guys I do realise that payments are only made to people where policies have been mis sold.
I do and my partner always did read paperwork before we signed.
I do feel confident that we never agreed to ppi.
we had life policies with critical illness included. We work in trades where we were confident we would never be unemployed (catering)
However since I took these cards out my partner died suddenly and I no longer had his income and it didnt even cross my mind until recently (when my friend mentioned ) that Ppi was even offered onto credit cards 8 just thought it was loans .I had already taken the loan out so that I could take full control of my finances.
If it comes back that the claim will not be with held then so be it.0 -
It's so you understand the difference between complaining about something and something bening refunded just becasue you ask for it. If you expect the latter, you might be in for a shock.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
