PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

I submitted a claim to Barclays which they turned down but I then contacted the ombudsman who upheld my complaint stating Barclays were in the wrong. Does anyone have any idea how long it normally takes from receiving the letter from the ombudsman to hearing from the bank who provided the PPI with regards to a settlement.0

epends on whether Barclays agrees or wants to send it to an actual ombudsman.

Sometime in the 1990s I took out a loan from Lloyds TSB in order to pay for a new driveway. I cannot remember any of the details, not even the amount, but the other day, my wife came across the following document while clearing out a cupboard. I don't know what the date applies to; when it commenced, or when it was due to finish.
The top line, referring to the amount, was written in ink.
£3000 over 36 months.
Lloyds TSB
Appointment Details
Customers Accounts
Quotations: Fixed APR loan
My Name
Max recommended repayment 125 Valid until 23/7/99
Max subject to assessment 179
PLPI Amount 425.76
Amount: Loan plus PLPI 3,425.76
Total amount payable 4,291,20
Total interest charged 865.44
Instalment amount 119.20 (initialed)
Equivalent Flat Rate 8.42%
This is as it was printed, no £s signs.
My question is, as I was either self-employed prior to 1999, or retired in 1999, am I eligible to claim and, if so, what elements?
All advice appreciated.

Yes you can complain.

don't bother asking for the T&Cs, you have evidence you asked for it. Don't be surprised if they ask for evidence you paid it all. Bank statements will rpove that.
And look at single premium as another complaint reason.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Your chances of getting compensation for loss of the hotel are near zero. The event that happened where they didnt pay out was because it was an event not covered by the policy. Your complaint that you should never have the policy and want to be put back in the position as if you never had the policy means it still wouldnt have paid out as it would never have existed. So, either way, you would never have got a pay out.
If the complaint was about the way the claim was handled and the claim should have been paid out then that is a different matter. Although that would depend on whether the amount paid out would have been sufficient to stop the rot.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Ok thanks for the info..so ......what do you think my chances would be on the fact they have my account details and all the loans figures..what i was paying ect...also may i say there would not have been a rot ...as i would have been fine..it was simple i got inssurance for everything it should have covered ..at the time but never mind all in the past....whats my chances on claiming towards reclaiming the loan inssurance.cheers0

Would be very grateful for advice. As executor of my mums will I submitted a claim to clydesdale bank for missold PPI on loans and an old credit card last December. Long story short but I never received a response until I chased it up again in April and they started an investigation. I have now received payment for PPI on old loans and was advised no PPI on credit card butI queried this as I knew there had been. I have now heard back from them that my mum had PPI on a credit card from 1994 until 2007, however they say that this was not miss sold as my mum had ticked the optional box on the credit card agreement form and had continued to pay this until she cancelled the credit card in 2007, it also says that the information on the form concerning my mum made her eligible for PPI and that their staff were fully trained in offering services to customers. The reason I was submitting the claim was that my mum was an NHS employee with full employment benefits for 12 months, additionally she had life insurance and death in service benefit. The original credit card form they have forwarded to me clearly states my mums occupation and employer and also that she was married. ThePPI box that she has ticked is worded "we strongly recommend that you take this cover". If the staff were fully trained surely they would have realised that this was not necessary. I was shocked that there is no recourse to appeal again with the bank but wondered if the FOS are less likely to investigate because I am claiming on behalf of my mum. Just to note it was my mums intention to claim herself unfortunately she never got round to it and it has taken me several years to feel able to do this on her behalf. Really grateful for advice anyone has to give.
Many thanks0 -
The FOS will investigate if you send it to them, and impartially.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
