PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

Hello, wonder if anyone can shed any light on the 40 day rulling for SAR.
I wrote to Capital One with the £10 cheque and SAR request. On around the 38th day since my letter, they responded saying they had found PPI on a credit card in my name and they will investigate futher to obtain all the records. They say I have to wait another 40 days for this information.
Is this correct? I dont mind waiting but just wondering if they are allowed to make me wait any longer?
Cheers in advance.0 -
Hi,
I am looking for a recommendation for a reputable company to pursue a claim for PPI, I am mega busy and dont have time to do it myself.
Not going to happen. No-one on this board recommends claims companies. All they do is put a stamp on the envelope of the form you fill in.
By the time you give the claims company the information, you may as well have done it yourself. It only takes about 10 minutes. Indeed, quicker than a claims company over the phone.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They have 40 days for the SAR.
Remember that a SAR on a credit card is unlikely to yield anything of benefit. If you know you were paying PPI on it then its largely a waste of money. You dont need it to put your complaint in.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Not true. They have 40 days total to respond with the SAR. They don't get another 40 days on top of that. Tell them to hurry it up or you'll report them to the ICO.
As dunston says, you don't need it if you know you were paying PPI. It's good to have if your complaint is strong and you need to roughly check what premiums you did pay if your complaint is upheld.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
I had a spare half hour so thought I would have a look if I had had any PPI on 2 old credit cards.
Spent an hour on the phone and both of them can't trace me on their systems. 1 of them is a credit card that is still live but I had cut it up and don't use it. I am completely baffled as I got my credit report and they are both on there but I can only access the last 4 digits of the card number. Is there any other way to trace old account numbers for cards?Boots and Tesco tart!! :heartpuls0 -

With PPI, you are complaining about the sale of it. Not the actual product. So, the seller is liable. Hence why GE have no liability.
The problem you have is that PPI is largely an FSA issue. Not a legal one. You used a Spanish company who was not regulated by the FSA. So, chances are Pearly Grey will tell you to take a hike. You can try as you never know but expect that outcome.
I still dont fully understand because GE Money are UK and the paperwork states we are covered by UK law?0 -
I've had a letter today from RBS asking if I want to make a PPI claim. They have listed 10 or more policies they think I have had over the past 10 years or so.
I am completely baffled ! Since being in my current house (about 12 years) I have had my own unemployment insurance through an independent mortgage adviser and have always said that I do not want insurance on loans/credit cards. I've spent the past few years being disappointed that I have never taken out PPI and therefore have no grounds for a claim !!
Is it really possible that I have unknowingly had these policies ? Can I just send in a claim on the grounds that I didn't know I had taken these policies. I know I have repeatedly explained that I have my own insurance but I don't have proof I've said that - I've never felt the need to record the conversations !0 -
