A friend has said that the letter turning me down is fairly standard and I should use a claims company to save the stress!! And only go to the ombudsman as a last resort :(
As you've already complained, you cannot now approach a claims company. Regardless the Claims company would charge you 25% (plus VAT) of any redress should you win for doing only what you can do yourself for free.

Your friend is talking rubbish. A claims company does nothing more than any individual can do, and once you've complained, you can't use them to make the same complaint anyway.

Yes, you can refer your complaint to the FOS but only if you are within the 6 month time period from their full and final letter.

I eventually got round to sitting down and filling in the questionnaire for a claim.

MBNA had contacted me sending a form and I also sent a form to Lloyds.

Today I got my acknowledgement letter from MBNA and in a separate envelope a letter saying they had upheld my complaint and were making a final offer of £736.:)

Is there a way I can check it is right? Is it a case of looking for my paperwork and adding it up?

Sorry, but having spent AGES reading through all this PPI reclaiming stuff I can't find the intial complaint letter template :( There seems to be so many threads on this, my head is in a muddle now :o

Just decided to get started on this, and requested Credit Report so hopefully that should be available in a few days, as I don't have any paperwork for my paid loans and credit cards.

Going to start with a complaint to CPP as I have had this cover for several years and only cancelled it after they took a payment last month without informing me ! - they did refund this years premium after I rang them, but still worth putting in a claim for the cover they have been charging me for over the last few years as apparently his cover was not required :) We will see

Just been looking again ! is it the comsumer questionnaire that needs to be sent to each lender ?

    Many thanks

I got a letter today asking me for documentary evidence of my employment at the time of sale - 1993 - my pay went into the bank that I have taken up my complaint with. I told them on my initial form that I wasn't entitled to any sick pay other than SSP and now they are asking for me to provide further details to support my complaint that the policy was unsuitable for my needs because I was part of my employers sick pay scheme. Er - what?? I told them that I would have been able to pay the loan repayments because of savings/partners income. I am now divorced from that partner (since 2000) and have absolutely no contact with the man. What on earth do they expect me to provide?

Some evidence to support your assertion that you could afford to pay the loan or credit card bills if you lost your job or became ill. Obviously whoever wrote to you has used the wrong form template.

I last posted here in June 2012 regarding advice in connection with my two catalogue PPI claims and one Nationwide PPI claim. We have since received two letters from the Ombudsman, a few months ago, thanking us for our patience and informing us that they are dealing with a huge volume of PPI claims. Our claims go back to May 2012 and we are still waiting for an outcome to them all. We did not use a PPI claim company. Recently, a friend of mine who DID use a PPI company received a PPI claim of £6,000, and it only took 8 weeks. Are those who use the PPI Claims companies at an advantage over those who chose to do it all themselves? We have been waiting over a year for all three of our claims to be settled.

Absolutely not, some banks won't even correspond with Claims Companies!

Do remember that every complaint is dealt with on it's own merits (or lack of them).

How much of that £6000 did your friend have to pay to the CMC?
