Hi All, I would be grateful for some advice on re claiming PPI, my hubby has tried to re claim from Natwest for his credit card, but has had a letter saying not entitled because it is printed on his statement every month he has not been mis sold, he doesnt really look at his statement apart from what he has spent and was totally oblivious to the PPI bit! I know naughty man, is it worth him contacting the Ombudsman? :)

If this was a final response from the bank then send the complaint to FOS, there is a long waiting with them so be warned, if it was not a final response, write back to the bank and show your Hubby had no need of this PPI,Did he have a good sick package from work, life insurance, any other means of repaying the card should the worst happen, was he self employed? these are all reasons that would show there was no need of this PPI and you reject the reason they give for not upholding.

  • Just got back from work and there is another message on my phone from the Financial Ombudsman. Yesterday's message was "Could you phone us as we have some news for you" and today's message is "We have have sent our assessment in the post".
I know I'm thinking too much into this but I can't help it. Surely they wouldn't have phoned saying they have news if it was bad news? They would just write?
    The suspense is killing me

Surely they wouldn't ring you at all if they didn't require more information etc?
FOS don't ring to congratulate complainants, nor to commiserate.

    Your complaint is over.

Really? That seems harsh! Would it be worth seeing if one of these no win no fees can get anywhere with it? Thanks for replying

Your complaint is over because the car dealer you purchased the insurance from was not regulated in 2004 and so won't have to consider any complaint whether it comes from yourself or a Claims Company. In addition, you have no access to the Ombudsman because the PPI was purchased in an unregulated environment prior to January 2005.
This is the "harsh" reality, -taff was just putting it bluntly.
