Really? That seems harsh! Would it be worth seeing if one of these no win no fees can get anywhere with it? Thanks for replying

It isnt harsh. it is factual.

most Dealers didnt become regulated until January 2005. They dont need to consider pre 2005 sales which are complained about. As they were unregulated at the time, you dont get access to the FOS either. Banks are different because they belonged to an earlier body that means that date does not apply to them.

  • In April 2012, I received a phone call from a PPI claims handling company who told me that I had PPI to come back from credit cards. At first, the way they phrased it sounded as if they were acting on behalf of the banks. I told them that I didn't think I had anything to come back but they assured me that it was 'no risk'; that if I didn't have anything to come then I would not have to pay them and even if I did, then I would get 100 per cent of any pay out. Finally, I agreed to let them deal with the claim - they took £200 from my account which they said was a gesture of good faith and would be returned to me, win or lose. I asked them how long it would take and they said approximately three months. I received some forms from them a few days later, which I signed and returned. I then left them to get on with it. In May, my mother died after being ill for some time and I had some health problems of my own which made me half forget the PPI claim. In early August, I phoned the company who told me that they were still dealing with it and when I pointed out that they had said around three months which had passed, they said that it would only be another couple of weeks. I phoned them several more times, explained that I had health and debt problems and that I really needed the money back. I told them that I didn't believe there was any PPI but that I didn't care anymore, I just wanted my £200 back. They said that if they repaid me they would have to take out admin costs and I reminded them that they had said there would be no deductions. They said that was only so if the case was completed. In short, I have phoned them many, many times now, and still, over thirteen months later, cannot get a repayment. I no longer have the credit cards, and am under a debt relief order. The company's name is Fusion Consumer Solutions and they are based in Wales. I just have no idea how to get back the money they owe me. Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Yes. a number of dodgy claims companies worded it like that.
if I didn't have anything to come then I would not have to pay them and even if I did, then I would get 100 per cent of any pay out.

Which is a lie because if you choose to employ a company to use a free of charge complaints process, you have to foot the bill.
Finally, I agreed to let them deal with the claim - they took £200 from my account which they said was a gesture of good faith and would be returned to me, win or lose.

oh dear - starting to look like advance fee fraud.
I asked them how long it would take and they said approximately three months.

At that time PPi complaints were taking 12-18 months. Another lie.

Wales is a hot bed for dodgy claims companies and telephone frauds/scams.

You should write to the ministry of justice complaining about this company. Just put what you have said here. What you describe is very common and very wrong. The ministry of justice regulate claims companies and will deal with the complaint.

  • Thank you. I'll give that a try. Ordinarily, I wouldn't have fallen for their sales patter, but I had so much on my plate at the time and it seemed to be the only way to get rid of them - I expected that a couple of months later they would contact me to say nothing was due to me and return the deposit. Boy, did I get it wrong!
  • OK, so just rang Santander as I am convinced that I had PPI on a personal loan from 2003 (when they were Abbey). I remember being told that I had to have it or I wouldn't get the loan.

The nice man told me he could see the loan I was talking about and it didn't have PPI on it and that it was likely I would just get a letter telling me I didn't have PPI and no claim....

Anyone else had this? Is he telling me porkies or is my memory really that bad? If I get this letter, do I continue to persue it?

I thought I had a clear cut claim but this has sown some doubt now..... :(:(

If you don't believe them, send them a SAR and £10, see the front page for a template.

You can only pursue it if you have evidence that you had PPI in the first place.
More than half of PPI complaints are from people who didn't have PPI at all!

Are you sure your "memory" of this isn't clouded by the possibility of a cash payout? The conversation you "remember" was ten years ago, are you sure you didn't reply that you didn't want PPI?

As -taff says, if you want to be certain you can send a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter to the bank.
    Excellent template here:

The letter costs £10, so be reasonably certain it's worth it. The Bank have forty days to respond.
  • Hi

I put a complaint into Natwest regarding my Credit card for which i was told it was unlikely my application would be accepted unless I took the PPI. This was in 1999. I also remember trying to cancel the PPI and being told the card would be cancelled if I did so.
I have back in April 2013 cancelled the policy and complained.
They sent me the forms to fill in but I was unable to complete them within the two week time scale due to family problems. They called me at 8pm one evening and said unless I spoke to them about the claim there and then they would close the claim. I asked for more time to complete the forms and they said no. I didn't have any paperwork to hand and got very flustered and Couldn't remember anything off the top of my head. I rang RBS the following day as he had asked a lot of questions including my disability (a withered limb) I clarified this with a lady and explained I couldn't remember when he'd rung but wanted to get my forms in and needed a few days to do this and she said someone would call me that afternoon but they didn't. They have now sent a letter saying that as I didn't remember taking out the policy. they have turn down the claim. I Can I still complain to the bank? What next?
    Please Help

If you feel you have been declined unfairly you can refer your complaint to the Ombudsman. A pamphlet about how to do this should have been included in the letter from the bank.

Do note that failing to send your complaint and then being flustered when they rang you is completely separate to your mis-selling complaint.
  • Thank you :)

I was just trying to establish if I could still chase my forms as I did send them in but they don't appear to have been included in the letter turning down PPI.

A friend has said that the letter turning me down is fairly standard and I should use a claims company to save the stress!! And only go to the ombudsman as a last resort :(

Or is that my only option now?
