Hello! I'm hoping someone here can help as I am desperately confused!!! I issued cap one with a SAR so I could claim back charges and in doing so have realised that for a period of nearly 3 years (2000-2003) I was paying PPI despite having a copy of my application form showing I ticked the 'no ppi' box!
I wrote to them in 2003 asking to cancel this, which they did. Can I claim this back? Account is still active
Thank you for your help!0 -

Thank you! I'm on the case! Do I deal with this at the same time as claiming back my charges? I'm a bit stuck on the ppi side of things...I have no idea how much was paid as they have only given me info from last 6 years. I have claimed charges from another card so confident in how to deal with that aspect of my claim. Thank you!0

Don't worry about not knowing the amount you have paid. Just be sure your reasons for complaint are valid

Hi Chaps
after two successful ppi reclaims (barclays loan - payout £450 and credit card ppi - £250) I'm wondering if my final two are really worth persuing.
The issue with them is that they were taken out in 2000 and 2001 - and paid off by mid 2003 - so well over the 6 years...
I have the original paperwork, which i sent to barclays along with the claim form but have had both rejected...they sent a letter saying if i wasnt happy to go to the FOS...
Is there any point? i dont really understand the rejection letters or on what basis they rejected the claim but as the others went through without question i'd guess the time is a factor.
So is it worth bothering to refer it to the FOS? or should i just leave it be and be happy with what i have managed to reclaim?
Thanks

Hi I have recently sent a questionaire into mbna for missold ppi on a credit card.
I have had card from 1990s and mbna say I have had ppi from 2001 but I do not remember how it was added onto my account. I actually had to ask them when it started. Will mbna have this info as lots of ppl on forum are talking about a pre ticked box but I would assume this is for new applications online?
Is it if you have ticked the box and made the decision yourself or there was a preticked box which you did not amend is it being classed as your decision to take ppi and that company did not advise you to take it..therefore no misselling has taken place
Or if you agreed verbally to taking ppi without company asking about medical conditions or employment cover does this mean miselling
sorry a bit confused0 -
hey Moneyineptitude!
Ive just checked the letter - it goes into details (2 pages long) at what they looked at to decide if the ppi sale was ok or not - it says wether i was eligible for it, wether it was suitable (employment status etc) wether the defined sales process was adheared to and features disclosed (ie i was made aware it was optional - i wasnt!) and wether their person made me aware of some details ref it being a single premium policy. It says they used all the info i provided plus all their info..
Then both letters (identical) say
"after taking all the above info into account i am unable to find any evidence that the PPI policy was mis-sold. Therefore i regret that i am unable to uphold your complaint.
This is my final response to your complaint and i need to make you aware that you now have the option of asking the FOS to review your complaint"
so no specific reason for refusal - seems that they are saying lack of evidence...but i have the original barclayloan protection insurance documents for both loans, and on one i have the original credit agreement and breakdown (it says "single premium payment to purchase Barclayloan Protection")....
Thoughts? Is it worth bothering with the FOS?
Thanks!!!0
