PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

my copy of the loan agreement had the PPI box ticked by computer, which I have learnt was commonplace 'pre 2007' in that rather than choosing to 'opt in' you were required to 'opt out'. Am I likely to be successful in gaining a refund for this?
Pre-populated boxes were a feature of internet applications only and required the customer to actively un-tick the PPI box to refuse PPI.
If this happened to you, it won't show on any agreement.0 -

Okay, but the application was done over the phone, not online. This is also written on the main PPI reclaim instructions screen of this website - "Some old agreements (pre-July 2007) may have used pre-ticked boxes so you had to opt out of the insurance rather than opt in, which is unfair. Always check this, and if you're paying for insurance you didn't know you had, go to how to reclaim."0 -

Remember, it's best to be thoroughly honest in complaints. Looking on the MSE advice article and picking complaint reasons which might apply is simply inviting failure.
If you haven't sent your complaint yet then you need to look for valid complaint reasons which definitely apply to you.
Expect a swift rejection otherwise.0 -

Okay, but there's a PPI box on my loan agreement which was posted to me that has a cross in it that was put there by a computer (or typewriter!?) which I certainly didn't put there. I did the application over the phone, not on the Internet. Forgive me if I'm missing something in your greatly appreciated advice though0 -

Your "complaint" isn't looking too promising I'm afraid. If the Bank don't find a different failure as part of their investigation then you won't get anywhere with this.0 -

Okay, thanks again. So the fact that I don't recall being given the option for PPI whilst the application was being processed over the phone wouldn't hold any weight?0 -

Moneyineptitude wrote: »Virtually none unless you have documentary evidence to support your assertions. The Bank will point to paperwork sent subsequently to you which allowed you a 30 day "cooling off" period in which to cancel the PPI. You may have "forgotten" this, but it's not a valid reason for complaint.

If I had a PPI on a mortgage and made a claim whilst sick can I still try to reclaim Payments made ???0
-
Well it depends on the circumstances of the sale, you may be able to reclaim the mortgage PPI you paid.
PPI has had a lot of bad press over the past few years, but it is important to remember that this type of insurance is not always a waste of money and can sometimes be useful.:rotfl:Be careful for Scams -:T Fight for your rights:beer:0
