Would not waste time to be honest, the 8% may not be much either.
  • I received a letter from Barclays in March as i may have been mis-sold PPI. I contacted them around 25th March and they told me about a loan i had taken out inn 2005 which i vaguely remember as it's been paid off for somne time. I completed an online form and according to their website they would respond within 8 weeks. Not heard anything on Monday so called them and was told my claim had been rejected and it was investigated last friday and a letter had been sent. Got home today to get a letter dated 1st may asking me to provide further information if i can by 16th may. so its taken 22 days to get the letter. I really can't remember the details about the loan and wondered if it's worth writing a letter asking for them to reopen my claim, even though i've not got the rejection letter and to complain about the more info letter I've now got. They want to know how i took out the loan and any other details. to be honest i can't remember and can't find any documentation.

If you have a rejection letter in the post, I would wait until you get this, it has obviously been sent because you did not respond to the letter asking for more info, this was not your fault, if you do not get the rejection letter by Monday then contact them again, see what reasons they rejected for.

Were you working in 2005, did you have life Insurance, good sick package from work or entitled to a decent redundancy package, can you remember if you paid one monthly payment to the loan each month or two?, these could be reasons that you were mis sold as you had no need of the extra cover.

This is probably quite a trivial post compared to many others but it's been playing on my mind all day. On Monday I sent off 2 sets of PPI reclaiming forms and only realised last night that I forgot to put a covering letter in with them. Should I send a letter out now even though it will arrive after or just leave it?

(I did say the post was a bit trivial! sorry!).

    Thanks

    Hi

Quick update on my GE Money PPIclaim
GE Money said that Ocean Finance Mortgages sold me the PPI policy and Pinnacle insurance Cardiff were underwriters.
I phoned Ocean Finance Mortgages and was told that the policy started on 5th January 2005.
Ocean Finance Mortgages, formerly owned by a Mr Newey, were sold to Ocean Finance who began trading on the 15th Jan 2005(ten days after my policy started)
I was advised by Ocean Finance that I should contact Mr Newey as it was his company, Ocean Finance mortgages, that sold me the policy.
I phoned the underwriters, who have registered my complaint, and they are investigating.
I have yet to write to Mr Newey.
Does anyone else have a similar story to mine regarding trying to claim from Mr Newey and what are the chances of success?
The Ombudsman has informed me that I have to write to him first, and that Ocean Finance Mortgages pre 2005 were under the Ombusman's jurisdiction.

I have recently discovered a Bank of Scotland PPI policy which was taken on a Scotloan.
The loan started in Feb 2000 and ended in April 2005
The PPI was for £3381.84 over the term.
The loan ran its full term ( in fact it ran for 62months) with the PPI included.
    I have all the paperwork.
I wondered if anyone could work out approximately how much I might get back, and how any reimbursement would be calculated

    Thankyou

Today I contacted LloydsTSB and made a complaint regarding a loan I took out with them in 2006 over the phone. As it was so long ago I don't recall being offered PPI but my copy of the loan agreement had the PPI box ticked by computer, which I have learnt was commonplace 'pre 2007' in that rather than choosing to 'opt in' you were required to 'opt out'. Am I likely to be successful in gaining a refund for this?

Also I took out another loan with LloydsTSB in March of this year, if I am offered a refund would they take this into account, taking some off of my outstanding balance for example?

    Thanks in advance, James.
