Hi
Not entirely sure if I'm even doing this in the right place- hope so!
Over the last 18 years, I have had various loans, credit cards, store cards, etc, etc, etc. I definitely remember having PPI on a loan about 18 years ago when TSB existed (now LLoyds TSB) but I don't remember any details for this or many other loans. I know the bank lender or store card lender but not the actual detail.
A couple of questions, how do I go about claiming any PPI if I'm entitled - which I don't even know if I am?
And, I read somewhere you can only claim a refund of PPI if the original loan was taken out 6 years ago or later (i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 years ago) - is this correct?
Hoping someone can help out. And huge thanks in advance.:)0 -
Hi all !
I'm trying to claim PPI From Hitachi capital. I brought a sofa from DFS and had a 6 monthly repayment agreement interest free, deferred for 1 year on finance.
On the finance agreement form , PPI is ticked and on the area where they work out the 6 repayments and the cost ..... Payment protection insurance premium ( optional ) has a figure of £80.54.
I write to Hitachi a week ago with a copy of the agreement and today I received a reply back.
Not very happy their exact words are " having reviewed the account we can confirm that the credit agreement with Hitachi Capital has at no time included Payment protection Insurance "
Please can someone tell me did I have PPI or not ? They continue to say if I am dissatisfied I can go to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
Are they fobbing me off and know it will take forever to get the PPI , and think I will not bother and just accept their response or are they right ?
Thank you in Advance0 -
Hi everyone I have recently been offered a considerable sum from HSBC for my PPI reclaim. I used Investor Compensation UK. The reason I used them is I thought I wouldn't be able to reclaim because I was repaying through Metropolitan Collection Services (HSBC), so basically give it a go. I am now in a position where most of the debt will be cleared but I now owe ICUK 30% of the reclaim amount. I have not signed the acceptance document yet indeed I haven't seen it, it is in the post expect it here Tuesday. Whilst I have cleared a heavy debt I am now in Debt to another company. Any one experienced this and is there a solution or possible options. Thank you all, look forward to your experiences.0

It's never a good idea to use a Claims Company, but it's positively discouraged when in debt.0 -

Did you pay the debt after the year interest free and did you pay anything over the cost of the goods,?if you paid the amount of the goods and no extra then PPI was not added.
As you sent a copy of the agreement they would have seen the PPI amount, it is possible this was not added.0 -
Hi there, I wonder if there is anyone out there kind enough to give me some advice on how to go about instigating a PPI claim?
Both my husband and myself have had a number of personal loans over the last few years. I recently received a letter from my bank saying that I 'may' have been mis-sold PPI on a loan taken out in 2006.
My first question is why has this particular loan been singled out but not others?
This leads me to then ask is there a time period that applies to PPI mis- selling? i.e. a 'from' and 'to' that this could have occurred?
Although I have my bank statements showing details of any loans, my husband is not so organised lol. Are the bank obliged to disclose information regarding our loans if we request it?
If anyone could help out with advise on how they have overcome these obsticles, I would be very, very grateful. I know that there is lots of information on this thread but there is so much, I'm a bit daunted about it all Thanks for reading :-) Kate0 -
It is possible that the letter you received concerning the one loan, may have been part of a chain, fill the form in and send it back and ask them to look at any other loans that may have been consolidated with this one.
You can request a Sar for each bank, this will cost you £10 per bank, ask for all info they hold on you and give them 40 days to respond.

You can post it to the local branch, head it Dsar request or take it in if you can get there.
If you go into the banks, they may be able to find accounts that you had, so try this first.0 -
Thank you Amersall. Please could you advise what a Sar /Dsar is?0

Do you think there is any mileage in getting a settlement figure from MCS (HSBC who the debt is with) in writing before I accept the offer from HSBC. If they agree a settlement figure do you think the remaining funds will be available to me to pay the Claim Company?0
