Do you think there is any mileage in getting a settlement figure from MCS (HSBC who the debt is with) in writing before I accept the offer from HSBC. If they agree a settlement figure do you think the remaining funds will be available to me to pay the Claim Company?
If HSBC are offsetting the PPI redress then it doesn't appear any money will be coming your way at all.
I'm afraid you appear to have swapped one debt for another by employing a Claims Company.

Thank you Amersall. Please could you advise what a Sar /Dsar is?

Data Subject access report, all it means is you want to access all the info they hold on you.
The Sar letter is in the link I gave you, amend it to your details and ask for all the financial information they hold on you.

Did you pay the debt after the year interest free and did you pay anything over the cost of the goods,?if you paid the amount of the goods and no extra then PPI was not added.
As you sent a copy of the agreement they would have seen the PPI amount, it is possible this was not added.

amersall , Yes I did, I paid 6 monthly payments after the year. and £80 on top which was PPI in the breakdown on the credit agreement form.
They also returned a copy of the agreement with their letter and you can see PPI is added.

Thank you for your time on replying.

Send the claim to DFS with your reasons for mis sell as they sold you the PPI, if you still have proof that you paid this then send copies, if not, just make the claim.

Hi all, i'm wondering whether its worth trying to claim ppi for my husband. I don't really have a clue on what to do or if he is entitled to anything so any advice would be much appreciated :-) he had debts with credit cards Morgan Stanley and Goldfish and also had a loan with Barclays. However these were all finshed about 8 years ago and we don't have any of the paperwork. Is there anything we can do to see if we are able to claim for ppi?

    Many thanks for any help

Hi everyone I have recently been offered a considerable sum from HSBC for my PPI reclaim. I used Investor Compensation UK. The reason I used them is I thought I wouldn't be able to reclaim because I was repaying through Metropolitan Collection Services (HSBC), so basically give it a go. I am now in a position where most of the debt will be cleared but I now owe ICUK 30% of the reclaim amount. I have not signed the acceptance document yet indeed I haven't seen it, it is in the post expect it here Tuesday. Whilst I have cleared a heavy debt I am now in Debt to another company. Any one experienced this and is there a solution or possible options. Thank you all, look forward to your experiences.

If they didn't tell you this was a possibility, see if these two threads are any help

Virtually none unless you have documentary evidence to support your assertions. The Bank will point to paperwork sent subsequently to you which allowed you a 30 day "cooling off" period in which to cancel the PPI. You may have "forgotten" this, but it's not a valid reason for complaint.

Sorry forgot to ask, will my complaint affect my relationship with my bank? Have any bearing on my existing loan etc?
