Does anyone have any advice? I have received an "annual statement" from NatWest on my Mortgage, this is the first time I have had anything like this and have noticed that I am paying for PPI insurance that I do not need.
With the information sent to me there is a questionnaire that I filled out when taking out the mortgage, which asks how I will make payments if unable to work etc.. In plain handwriting I have written " 6 months full pay then reduced pay thereafter" under this there is an option to take out PPI which I ticked to say I do not need.
Looking at the statement it looks like I have been paying PPI @ £18 per month since 2005
Do you think there I have a case here? What is the best way forward? Phone or writing ect..?
Anyone had the same issue? Any advice would be great.
You can contact them any way you like, find out what the £18 is actually for as it may not be PPI and is cover for something else.
If it is PPI and you have the form that shows you did not want or need this, put a claim in, Insurance that covers a Mortgage is a good thing as if you fail to meet the repayments you could lose your house, get in touch with them and find out what it is and why you have it.0 -
I have never bothered with all this PPI claiming lark, thinking I've never had any products with it on.
This morning though I received a letter from Lloyds about my Annual PPI Review on a credit card I've had for years. I can't remember receiving a letter last year or any year come to think of it.
I also can't remember if I'd have asked for it when I first received my card and have no paperwork from back then.
My questions are, can you claim PPI charges from credit cards? If so which template letter would I use? I can't remember when I signed up for my card and have no original paperwork, would that be a problem?
Apparently my cost of PPI in the past year was £39 and the monthly cost of PPI for every £100 of monthly benefit is £15.80?
Are they sending this out now to cover themselves?
Any help would be most appreciated.

Does the £39 that you paid this year not equate to the balance on the card each month for this period?, if not, you could query this with them.
Make sure you have valid reasons for mis sell, these can be found on the link I gave you.0 -
Hi Taff
I know its been a while, but I have more info on my dilema.
I noticed the date of the offer was the same date my claim was withdrawn.
I then phoned RBS and asked how this may have happened. Theylooked into it and I was informed that it was a clerical error on their behalf. I asked them to provide me with a letter explaining what has transpired. They did this and the letter clearly states that it was a error and no offer was made until Feb 2013 as the case was withdrawn.
I then sent this to HYC however they are insisting onpayment or applying for a CCJ against me. They have also asked me to sign another letter of authority to be put back on the case. Im not sure if that’s wise ornot. They claim they would like to ask the bank questions and nothing more butI don’t know what the legal implications mean towards my claim.
I have kept all correspondence from emails between myselfand HYC. I have asked them on many occasions why the proof I have provided is not sufficient and I still have not been given a answer.
Should I sign theletter of authority ?
Is the contract I signed valid if there is no declaration signed
Cheers Bob
Do not sign the letter of authority, this gives them permission to
carry on with the claim, if they did not get your "cancellation" letter, then why do they want you to sign the letter of authority? they must already have your permission to deal with this, this makes me think they are playing games.
Contact the MOJ and make a complaint about these.

I applied via the RBS telephone service for a PPI reclaim on a credit card I have had since 1987 on the grounds that I was told it was compulsory to have PPI and also that I was freelance at the time, therefore self-employed.
I have received ( bang on the 8 week deadline) a response from RBS saying that they have refused my application on the grounds that they can find no evidence to support my claim.
They say that they have no evidence of my employment status at that time, that it was standard practice to "not advise" the customer to take the insurance and to let them make their own mind up and that they have reviewed the 'sales documentation in my file'. They enclosed two arbitrary photocopies of credit card statements - one from 2001 and one from 2013 as 'evidence' of their investigation. They also claimed to have tried to contact me repeatedly by phone although nothing was left on my answerphone and I received no calls on my mobile.
I appreciate from reading here that the next stage would be to go to the Ombudsman, although I am concerned that it might take up to two years.
I think I can refute the claims that they have made directly by :
A - I opened a business account at the same branch 1 month before applying for the credit card, operating as a Freelance Photographer/assistant. I have the bank statements and my accounts from 1987.
B - They claim to have the sales documentation but I was advised by the manager of the PPI reclaim call centre that took my initial claim enquiry that they did not keep any records before 1995. I had asked if I could have a copy of the original documentation for myself ( paying the £10 fee ). So they appear to be lying.
They have already stitched me up once recently as they 'lost' my letter cancelling the PPI that I sent to them the day I made the claim. I had to do it again by telephone when I discovered they were still taking the premium this month.
The question is (finally)- Should I confront them directly with the evidence quoted above and give them the opportunity to make an offer, and how long does that take? Are they obliged to operate within a timeframe like the original 8 weeks? Or should I proceed to the Ombudsman knowing it could take up to 2 years?
Sorry for the drawn out post but I thought it would be best to give you all the information.
Any advice would be genuinely welcomed.
Get back in touch with them, give them chance to look at this again, if you can prove you were self employed at the time of taking this card out then send the proof, if you had savings /life Insurance, let them know this, show you had no need of this PPI and that is why you did not take it, ask them to confirm the cancellation and tell them you will be passing this to FOS to deal with.0 -
Hi, just wanted to update all you helpful people. I spent the whole of last Friday trekking back through my Lloyds TSB online statements (for some reason I was unable to go through these in the past, just thought it was a glitch???) I have gone as far back as Jan 2007 and I had 1 accident/sickness policy running from then up until march 2011 this was from a company arranged by the company I worked for and I had a reduced policy rate because of this. This pretty much covered everything eg hospitalization, accidents at work/home, anything causing disabilities etc etc.....but no mention of redundancy.
During this I also took out a life insurance policy which ran from Oct 2008-Aug 2009, and another policy with well woman covering all 7 cancers which ran from Oct 2007-Oct 2008.
Glad I did this it really jogged my memory!
One last question for you.....would the first policy alone (although it doesn't include redundancy/life cover be enough to prove that PPI was mis-sold? If yes, during that time frame I was unknowingly sold 4 separate policies.0 -
Contact the bank and ask about the other 2 claims you have with them.
If the bank won't deal with you regarding this and the letter is a final response, I would send this to FOS, make it known that you have only just received this letter and disagree with the response, just because the bank said they "followed procedure" and rejected this, does not mean that they did, let the FOS know that you could have paid this card back in any eventuality, life insurance good sick benefit from work etc and ask for the bank to provide proof that this was taken over the phone and all selling procedures were adhered to.
If it is not a final response from the bank, send a letter to them and put what reasons you reject the decision on (above) and if you get no response, take it to FOS.0 -
Hi everyone
I've just had my PPI complaint upheld by Lloyds TSB. Although I wasn't expecting a huge repayment I was surprised how low the £250 was they have calculated. They haven't broken down their decision apart from separating out the interest from the main repayment. I've had my credit card for 22 years and my complaint goes back all that way as far as I am led to believe.
Does anyone know how you can roughly calculate what you might be owed from PPI on a credit card? Lloyds have already repaid the money without me having time to consider whether or not I should accept the repayment.
Thanks

You only pay PPI on a credit card if there is an outstanding balance each month, so if your balance was always low, or you paid it off completely, you won't have paid much if any PPI. If you can prove you paid more, send them the proof.
You can reject thir offer and go tot he ombudsman if you like.
This is assuming it was an upheld complaint not a goodwill offer.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Just had the offer letter (much quicker than the 4 weeks that they suggested)
£2,406.01
which is £1,331.77 refund and £1,074.42 interest
As I said in the past, this was a total shot in the dark and I had no details whatsoever about the account- so thanks HSBC.
(I did have a letter earlier in the week on behalf of Egg saying that they'd investigated and I'd never had PPI with them! Worth chancing your arm though!)0 -
Hi
I took a loan for £20,000 with First National/GE money
There were 2 PPI policies sold with it, for £1900 each, so total amount
£3, 800
The loan started Jan 2005 and was settled June 2006.
I have recently registered a complaint with them.
They told me that if my claim was successful I would be due the £3800 plus any interest accrued over the period of the loan + 8%
Can anyone verify if this is correct and possibly work out a possible figure I should be due back.
Thanks0
