The insurer is not liable either - the only exception would be if it subscribed to the General Insurance Standards Council's code of practice at the time and the broker did not.
    I stand corrected :D
How do you establish that the broker not subscribed to GISC, is it the year? as the OP did not say who the broker was.

    Hi all,

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum or has been discussed before. I am a new member so hi all, i'm Jass.

Basically before this PPI issue came about I was already unhappy with the way my mortgage advisor handled my mortgage. I was a first time buyer and new to the game. Ideally he was the professional but implied I needed the PPI to help get the mortgage.

To cut to the point I ended up cancelling the PPI with the lender (Legal and General) and explained to them that I didn't need this in the first place. I am talking about a good 4-5 years back. I left it at that as didn't know it was possible to claim back my losses until now.

However, i've spoken to a few PPI reclaim companies and they've given up saying the success rate claiming back is low as the lender was not a bank and the person who advised me was an independent mortgage advisor.

I've written a letter to both the advisor and the lender but no reply so far.
Any suggestions on what I can do next to help progress my claim.

    Many thanks in advance,
    Jass V
  • Hi All,

It has been over a year when I called GB PPI claiming company. After listening about my case, they asked £50 but I said I didn't have £50 but accepted to £pay £10 instead, to start the procedure. There were PPI claims for my CC and Loans. I got CC PPI within a few months and paid the the 25%+VAT.

For my loans the bank refused therefore the case went to FOS and now the bank has agreed to pay after over a year.

I heard and now I can understand how straight forward it is to put a claim forward.

At the time I made the claim, I was lead (mis-lead) to believe (based on the ads) that an individual (myself) cold not do it and needed expert advice/intervention.

    £25+vat is lot.

Since I was 'mis-lead' into believing that I needed their expert advice and did not inform me that I could do it on my own:

    1. Can I launch a complaint and ask to annul/void the contract.
    2. and when GB said no, what would be their possible actions?
    3. Would be better to go through the court to argue the case and may be set a precedent?

    What else, please.

It's my hard earn money and it's a huge chunk the want from it.

    Thank you all for reading...

Hi freedom i know what you mean i've had the same with 1-2 of my early cases which i've just had to settle at 400 odd quid when i did the majority of the chasing, and I think I know more than the operative who was dealing with it, here's the but though, you signed a contract with them so you will probably have to pay, of course i don't know the in's and out's of what you signed but it'll likely be the standard pay or play i would imagine, sorry i could'nt be more positive for you.
  • Hello there.

    Another newbie here.

I just wanted to ask if anyone had any experience with the AA as a loan provider? Due to a very low interest rate at the time (6 years ago) I took a loan out from them which I've now nearly paid off... I seem to remember setting up the loan online but I just cannot remember discussing the insurance policy.

As I said, just interested to know if anyone out there has heard that the AA may be suspect before I embark on a reclaim attempt.

Any help offered would be greatly appreciated.

    All the best.

:j:j:j:j That is brilliant :beer: glad you can still get it, at least it was not a rejection before :D:D

I know, i nearly fell through the floor when i read the letter!!!
I really thought that they'd tell me it was too late and they wouldn't give me the refund now but it seems they still will! It all seems a bit bizarre and i don't think i'll quite believe it until the cheques in my hand.

I am very new to looking at claiming back PPI for MIL

I have read all of the guide. How to claim? Is it really just a case of filling in the questionnaire?
