Hi sassy just ask them and see what they say, you might be surprised they might tell you, did you have a history of having the insurance, I know i've now claimed on two LTSB loans that are nearly 20 years old as i knew i always had ppi, i guessed i'd have it that time as well.

I received the copy letter in the post today and it said....
"I am unable to establish that you were provided with sufficient details to make an informed decision (....) we would like to offer £2790.27 as a refund of all premiums for the full term of the loan"

they have also included interest at 8%.

I phoned them earlier, explained that i had never received the letter they sent in 2009 and was told by them that i could still send the acceptance letter to them as they could see that the claim had not been paid out all i have to include is a photocopy of marriage certificate to prove the change of name and i'll have the cheque within 10 days!!!

    Hopefully it'l all go smoothly!
thanks for all your help guys :j
:j:j:j:j That is brilliant :beer: glad you can still get it, at least it was not a rejection before :D:D

Hi i posted in the ppi success forum a few days back I have received a good will gesture off RBS but don't quite understand the letter hopefully someone can put me right.

I have put in 7 different claims and the first one posted back on 5th march i was hoping to have more popping through the door but to no avail,i take it they will be sent in drips and drabs???

another question looking at the declaration and acceptance sheet it says the following

"I wish to accept the banks goodwill offer of £XXXX on on the basis that such an offer is
accepted in full and final settlement of all or any claims which i might have against the royal bank of scotland group or any subsidiary companies
in respect of my natwest payment Protection Insurance for loan account number XXXXXXXX."

Will this bit in bold affect my other 6 claims if i sign the declaration sheet???

    thanks Alan
You are only signing full and final for the loan number on the letter, to put your mind at rest ring and ask what is happening to the rest.

    Good evening,

I had a mortgage with the Halifax for 8 years starting back in 1997 and paid mortgage PPI every month. I am a nurse working in the NHS so have an excellent package to cover sickness redundancy etc. Looking back I cannot believe that I paid out so much to the bank when I need not have done so. When I changed mortgage to another bank it wasn't even offered. Is this something I can look to claiming? The original letter says that they they strongly recommend I take out PPI and being my first mortgage I did as I was advised. Any one have some advice for me? Many thanks.

You need to post this here

I was thinking of claiming against GE Money. As I think they are liable as they provided the PPI. The broker acted as agent on their behalf and did not provide the PPI.

    What do you think?
It was the broker who sold you the loan, as this was 2004 you will not be able to go to FSCS as they only deal with claims post 14th Jan 2005.

You could put the claim into Ge money but they will only give you the same response that they already have, you need to ask Ge who the insurer was and put the mis sell claim into them, they may so no and if they do, ring the FOS they may be able to help with the insurer..

    Hi,

I had a loan for some windows from Safestyle in 1998 and paid it off early in 2006. The loan was with GE lending & I wrote to them to ask for a copy of the agreement to see if we were paying PPI. They have sent me a statement of my repayments but say they cannot give me any records as it was settled over 6 years ago (although it is 6 years at the end of this month). They did say if I want any information on the insurance policy to contact Pinnacle Insurance.

Who do I have to try to take up the claim with, Safestyle, GE or Pinnacle? Can they not let me see a copy of the agreement??

    Thanks, Caz.

You need to do a Sar to Safestyle, they were the ones that sold you the loan and ppi.

This will get you the agreement, then you put the claim into Safestyle.

    Hi
    Toni

They may try doing this but as there are no arrears, you can ask if you have a choice of getting this paid directly to you, because you have intentions of using to pay something else perhaps (maybe something more of a priority.

    Go for it, good luck.x

Thanks again for all your help xxx Ive got to win first, lol

    Hi there,

I took out a secured loan in 2005 against my mortgage with Northern Rock (Now NRAM). Only when looking for another document I found the loan agreement in which it states on my signed copy I requested PPI (which i did not) and a monthly premium is shown. My mortgage started in 2003 with them.

I rang NRAM, who could not find any details of PPI, as they could not find any details of my loan agreement on their system!!!

This went on for around an hour on the phone, as they could not find any correspondence on their systems that matched up with THEIR OWN reference numbers on my agreement. I was passed to five different departments. After requesting a manager an a threat to the FOS. I requested all copies of everything my husband had signed in relation to our mortgage and other loans, who miraculously found them.

I did receive them (a week later) and then rang NRAM to say the copies I received married up with my copies, only missing the insurance T&C's from Pinnacle insurance that I had originally. I was astounded to hear thy could not find or access the copy document they had sent me. Again I was passed from department to department, and was asked to send in a copy of the forms they had sent me!!!! as they still can't find them. I was told numerous times I had no ppi, even though I have now two copies of my loan which clearly states I have, with it being on my agreement and another separate form.

I have sent everything back to NRAM, but really feel I am being fobbed off. My loan payment is taken in conjunction with my mortgage in a lump sum, so nothing is listed out separately. The loan term for 10,000 is taken over 20 years at £73.55 per month plus initial admin fee of £349 that was included.

I have spent endless time over this and have written in my letter I want the ppi plus interest refunding, and will contact the FOS, as i feel Northern Rock at the time have included this ppi into the monthly premium at the start. Hence it is not listed out.

I have all the documentation, but don't seem to be getting anywhere.

    Nightmare!!!
  • Hi, Can anyone help me or give me some advice please.

In January I had a letter from Barclaycard offering me 0% interest on a credit card I had taken out a long time ago. The balance of the card stood at zero.
In January I decided to take up the offer and activated a new card. I called Barclaycard to complete a balance transfer. I asked what the maximum balance transfer I could take out and was advised on an amount which would leave enough credit in my account to pay the balance transfer fee.
February's statement arrived and read like this:

17th Feb: Card Balance transfer £1,345.68
    17th Feb:Card Balance transfer fee £52.48
19th Feb: Optional Payment protecti £13.35
19th Feb: Over credit Limit Charge £12.00

    # Your promotional rate - As your account hasn't been run in accordance with your offer conditions your 0.000% promotional balance will now revert to your standard purchase rate of 1.167%

I was so annoyed that the optional payment protection had taken me £3.00 over the credit limit and then I was charged £12.00 and my balance transfer rate had ended. I felt I had wasted the £52.00 transfer fee. I was very cross that I don't believe that I have ever agreed to the optional payment protection and then the adviser that I spoke to in January had told me I could balance transfer that amount and never told me that the £13.35 would be coming out two days later.

I called Barclays and explained the above and they offered to refund the £12.00 and revert my promotional rate to zero. They said they would look into my concerns over the payment protection and get back to me.

Today I had a letter in the post saying:
'Thank you for taking the time to contact us about the sale of your payment protection insurance policy. We are looking into your concerns and will let you have a reply or update as quickly as possible but no later than 30th April 2012.
To assist our investigations please complete and sign the attached Financial Ombudsman Service Questionnaire. In the meantime, we will continue to investigate your complaint based on the information we already hold and we may contact you earlier if we find sufficient grounds for upholding your complaint'.

Now forgive me, I must of been living in a bubble as I have only heard of PPI reclaiming since this evening! I have a very busy toddler and a baby - that's my excuse for ignorance! :)

I guess what I'm hoping to find out is, should I fill in this questionnaire or leave it to their investigations. I'm frightened if I fill it in they will think 'how can she be sure that she didn't agree to the insurance if she can't even remember it being sold to her?!'

Questions such as 'have you ever missed payments or gone into arrears on this borrowing' I can't remember in the past but should I give the above as an example?

Sorry for such a long post but just want a bit of hand-holding! :)
