My husband and I received a letter from Black Horse re: the PPI we'd had on 2 loans with them.

It said if you feel you were mis-sold to fill the forms in and they would look at our case.

When we originally too the loans it started as finance on a new bed. Once that was paid off we took out a new loan which we did over the phone/forms filled in at home. After a year we decided we needed to borrow more, so we consolidate the loan and took the extra but we did this in branch.

The 'advisor' told us Black Horse wouldn't give my husband a loan on his own and insisted I take the loan as a joint applicant, which I did. He also said Black Horse wouldn't give us the loan unless we took the PPI, so again we did. I still have the paperwork and only my husband was covered on the PPI.

After a year I'd read on here you didn't need to have PPI so I got in touch with Black Horse and cancelled it. Then a month or so later we were remortgaging and borrowed extra and repaid the loan off. I can't remember the exact figures but we paid the loan off and a couple of weeks later we received a small lump some in our account from Black Horse. At the time I rang them to make sure we hadn't received it in error, which we hadn't but I can't remember what it was for.

When I think about it now was it the PPI being refunded because I'd cancelled and the repayment figure included the PPI. Had they just made a mistake because I rang them for the balance and they told me over the phone so I just sent a letter and cheque for that amount, were they telling me how much we still had to pay or a repayment figure?

Its all so confusing. I've filled the form in anyway and if we get anything it's a bonus. But I definitely think we were mis-sold.

    Any suggestions or comments?

The money you received back would have been a rebate for the PPI that you settled early with the loan, the remaining PPI would have been repaid back to them by you in the settlement figure.

    Thought so, thanks for that.
  • Can anybody help?
I went through a broker with MD Nationwide to get my mortgage and having dug out the details I was sold ASU (which I believe is another version of PPI).
I have found out that MD Nationwide was bought by Deacon Homeloans, but I cannot get a contact number for anybody.
Are my thoughts of ASU correct? And can anybody point me in the right direction please?
    Many Thanks

I went through a broker MD Nationwide to get my mortgage they sold it to Beacon homeloans then to Redstone mortgages. I opted out of the ppi on the original paperwork. While reading the original paperwork MD Nationwide charged me a fee of £4500 which says on the solicitors completion paperwork that this is ppi.i have completed the F S C S paperwork but they have sent it back saying they need the underwriter for this policy. Both MD Nationwide and Beacon are not in business and have contacted Redstone mortgages who say they don't have that payment on there system but are still looking in to it and have asked me for a copy of the completion paperwork from the solicitor. I phoned the solicitor again and asked for them to email me the completion certificate and on arrival the £4500 payment to MD Nationwide doesn't have ppi beside it. Can anyone give me any advice.

If I have read your post correctly, you have the original completion form showing the PPI but the one from the solicitors you requested does not show PPI?.

You need to send copies of both of these to Redstone and ask them to confirm the PPI payment.

If you opted out of PPI on the original agreement you need to ask what the charge was for.

Ask them for the underwriter/insurer of this PPI (if you had it) and make the claim to them.
Are you sure that the payment is PPI and how is it worded on the completion papers?.
  • Hi, I may be on the wrong page as im new to posting.
I bought a car on finance approx 14 years ago, which is now well and truly paid off. I had finance through Black Horse and think i was mis sold PPI. Am i entitled to try and claim back due to it being so long ago.

You don't claim, you complain. You need the account number to do this.
Follow these steps and if you need to find out what the account number was, you need the closed account method.

have moved to a diff thread
  • Hello

Thi is my first post on a forum ever, so apologies if i have written the wrong thing in the wrong place. Anyway to the point at hand.

I have had cards/loans since 1999 with the below companies, but do not have the associated paperwork (though have the last 4 digits of the accnts, credit amounts and address' i resided at during the time).

    I just wondered:
    1. If it was worth me trying, considering length of time and sketchy info, to reclaim the PPI's?
    2. If any one has had success under these circumstances?
    3. What the best initial approach should be if going forward?
    The companies are
GECapital, MBNA Europe Bank Ltd, RBS, Halifax and Nat West Bank.

Thanking you in advance for whatever help you can give.
