You'll need the full account numbers of all the finance for a start. You'll then need to be sure you had PPI and if so that it was mis-sold to you.
In the first instance, you could send a SAR letter to each of these lenders, but do be aware that anything older than six years is unlikely to return anything-especially if the accounts are closed and you no longer bank with them

You had a weak complaint reason. They are not obliged to tell you that you can get it cheaper elsewhere.

You needed to show either you didn't need it becsuse you could pay it with savings or another income or a good sick pay scheme, or that it wasn't suitable for you , that it woulnd't have paid out if you needed to use it.

thanks for the reply .They led me to believe that it was compulsory to take the cover with the card when they phoned me . it was my opinion that I could get it cheaper somewhere else .plus I would of had full sick pay cover to cover the payments

It's just a coincidence that your Annual Review arrived when it did.

You should get a full and final response to your actual complaint from the Bank after about eight weeks.

Do be aware that lenders are not required to tell customers they can shop elsewhere.
  • Hi,

I'm just wondering of anyone has come across the same problem as me. I have today received an offer from Halifax for the mis-selling. They have awarded me the difference between a single premium policy and a monthly repayment policy elledging that even though they agree to the mis-selling they believe a monthly repayment policy would have been suitable.

    Has anyone experience this??

    Thank you

P.S. New to this so may not hae posted this in the correct place if not can someone please let me know :)

    Hi
I have finally got around to trying to reclaim PPI this morning. I am fairly sure I have been sold it and have some paperwork I think. But tried to speak to Bank of Scotland this morning where I have mortgage and they passed me around 3 different numbers without giving me any help. I have a mortgage with them and an endowment originally with Scottish Amicable (now owned by Prudential). I took them out at the end of 1998. I remember them telling me I had to have the insurance but I am self employed so I now understand that it would have made no difference. Would the PPI have been on the endowment on the interest only mortgage?

I also seem to have a Royal and Sun Alliance protection plan for that period but not sure if this was home insurance but the document in it refers to critical illness, loss of income etc.

I am confused. Can anyone help? Where do I start if I am not sure what I signed and paid for? All I know at the moment is my endowment is underperforming and won't be enough to pay the mortgage off - so any repayments would be very welcome.

what they've done is said that you did need the insurance, but the single premium was wrongly sold, so they've given you the difference between them. You can refer it to the FOS if you want to but expect to wait up to 18 months.

How long should we wait from sending to the questionnaire to the bank before getting a reply?

They should akcnowledge your complaint within a week of receiving your complaint [roughly]. You then wait 8 weeks for a resolution to your complaint.

Give them a ring and ask.
