  • Hi, hopefully some on the forum can help me.
Im trying to chase some PPI's for my father, But he has thrown all of his old paperwork away! I know i have to contact the companies which he had loans. How on earth do i go about doing this. Is there a template of a letter of which i can send them? I just do not know where to start. I am quite confident he will get something back.

    Please Help.

    Thanks

You need to send a SAR and £10 to each company he had a loan with if they are still running.
    See the front page sticky.

  • Hi,
I am trying to research different credit cards etc who may have sold me PPI. One of these is Egg between 1999 and 2002. I have just spoken to Barclaycard about this and he said that is the account balance was zero then the account details would have been deleted after 6 years? Is this true or could he just be trying to have an easy life and get rid of me with a 'fib'? Is it worth sending a form to him anyway?
    thanks

No. You send them to Egg.
They may well have destroyed records by now but you won't know till you send a SAR and £10.

  • Hi,

I've tried searching the thread without much success. Please could someone suggest a way forward.

I discovered today, quite by chance, when discussing an unrelated policy on the phone with FirstAssist , that between 2002 and 2008 I had PPI policy with them.
To keep this as short as possible the facts as I know them are:

I have been self employed since the 1980's.
I bought a used van on finance from an independent roadside used car dealer at this time. I'm pretty sure it can't have been for anything else.
The car dealer arranged a finance contract.
The finance seems to have included PPI for the purchase.
I willingly signed the paperwork for the loan and apparently the PPI.
The loan and PPI DD payments finished at the end of 4 year agreement
The used car dealer has long since disappeared.
I threw away the paperwork some years ago with the rest of the van file when I disposed of the vehicle.

Do I have grounds to reclaim the PPI?
If so, who should I approach?
Should I wait for the next "Have you been sold PPI?" telephone call?

Many thanks for any assistance anyone can offer.

If the dealer is out of business your complaint is over because there is no-one to complain to and the FSCS can't help because it was pre January 2005.
Some people have adovcated trying to complain to the underwriters of the insurers, there have been a couple and I mean a couple of successes doing that, but in all honesty, I think your complaint is dead in the water.

  • Evening all, I took a loan out in 1999 with a company called ICF loans. This company went bust however after an attachment of earnings was put in place I finished paying the loan to a company called Booker Management Services. I have a couple of questions if anyone can answer:

I have drafted my letter to BMS to try and reclaim the PPI, however, is this right as they did not initially sell me the policy?

I finished paying the loan in 2011, can I still reclaim because the loan started in 1999

How do you workout the 8% interest in my case

And finally, they added court costs to my balance when they put the attachment of earning on. Can i reclaim these costs?

    Any help is appreciated.
