PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

  • I have held numerous loans with HSBC since i graduated from university in 1999, and still hold my main account with them.
i wasn't aware i had been paying PPI until i started getting hassled by cold callers several times a day about six months ago.
I made an inquiry with the bank and discovered i'd been paying PPI on several loans and on my credit card.
I no longer have the paperwork for these loans as they are now closed and have been replaced with my existing loan which i took out in 2012 (No PPI involved)
I'm a full time single nurse who receives 6 months full pay and 6 months half pay, and have held life insurance and a critical illness and accident policy cover since the age of 23.
I don't remember how PPI was sold to me as was a long time but i am certain i have declared these employment benefits plus my critical illness policy in the past when insurance has been discussed. I know for certain it states my employment and occupation on my file as it is always mentioned when i go in branch.... plus my wages are paid in this account. Not likely to be made redundant from the NHS either!
Does anyone know if i have real grounds to contest the PPI on this basis? has anyone had success in doing so?
I have struggled for years financially and all these loans have been taken to consolidate debt solely held with HSBC.... i feel quite angry that when anxious to relieve financial pressure and to reduce my monthly outgoings and overall debt i have been lumped with the added cost of PPI that i strongly feel was not required and not in my best interest at the time. I have lodged my complaint on these grounds and it is currently being dealt with....
aynone got any thoughts on this?

You'll only know for sure 8 weeks after your complaint is acknowledged.
    Good luck.

  • Initial complaint logged in december 2012, heard nothing at all not even a letter in recognition of my complaint. Had to chase this myself last week and download and print a form that should have been sent to me..Received a phone call today asking me questions about my employee sickness cover and critical illness policy...i reiterated all my concerns and was honest that i don't remember how the policy was sold to me....they gave nothing away, simply told me they were still waiting for the paperwork to be retrieved and would be in touch when a decision was made...?10 days time.
    Anxiously waiting!!
  • I claimed my PPI back couple of years ago through a claim company. Recently they have been sending me letters saying that eventhough I have claimed back the PPI I may still be entitled to more money.

My question is. Is it true could I be entitled to more money on the one claim I made?

No, if you accepted a full and final settlement then your complaint is closed.
On what basis would you make another complaint about the same policy?
  • i have just been informed by my lender that.

for clarity, please be advised that consumer finance companies operating in the channel islands are not regulated under the UK consumer credit act.

    Hi,

I'd like to try and see what loans / credit cards i've had over the past decade to inquire about PPI - is there a way to find this information ? I can't imagine everyone in the UK has kept their own record of this ?

Also is the claim period the last 10 years back from now ie today ?

Finally i've heard talk about PPI being built into some loans by default without people even knowing about it - is there any truth in this ?

    tia,
    Mike.

    Contact these and ask http://www.jerseyfsc.org/

if you get no joy, give FOS a call and ask if you have any recourse for redress.

    tia,
    Mike.

Check your credit file, this goes back 6 years and should give you the banks you had credit with, you then need to phone these banks and ask if they hold any info on you.

As you have no documentation, you may have trouble with these unless the banks can find you.

There have been claims from over ten years ago, this is not the norm though unless the banks have info or you do so see how you get on.

With a Credit card, the PPI is shown on every monthly statement that you receive, on a loan this will be on the agreements.
